Nordyne Mgha-075abc-01 won't fire

If its a standing pilot, (the pilot flame is always on) then you need to check thermopile/generator. You can find it where the pilot flame is. The flame from the pilot should be heating this device. A thermopile produces about 750 millivolts when heated. This small amount of energy is what powers the gas valve. That is the click you are hearing, the valve trying to open. When a thermopile gets weak, it cannot produce enough power to keep the valve open. The thermopile is replaceable.

I've got good flame replaced Powerpile pilot won&#t stay lit

The flame sensor is not producing enough volts to hold the gas valve open for the pilot light. Make sure the SIDE of the pilot flame is touching the sensor. If it in engulfed by the flame it won't work right.

Hi The pilot light when out and the oven has stop working does the pilot light double as a fuse ?? BSO 6000

No. The pilot light uses a thermocouple(safety device) to let the main gas valve know that the pilot is lit so that the main gas valve can operate safely by not letting the main gas valve turn on without a lit pilot light. This way, in no way can the main gas valve turn on until the heat from the pilot light causes the thermocouple to produce an electrical current which allows the main gas valve to operate when the thermostat switch closes.

Dyna glo ra18lpdg pilot won't stay lit.

Hi Lonnie,
I have had this same problem with mine sine I bought it a few years ago. Yesterday, I disassembled the unit and re-positioned the Thermocouple so that it is about 30% into the flame. As it is stainless steel it should be OK. However, the thermocouple may need replacement. It produces a fraction of a volt when heated which seems to be enough to cause a tiny selonoid in the gas valve to allow gas to flow. If the thermocouple stops producing voltage because the pilot went out, the valve closes off the gas. Problem is, when voltages are that low, the resistance in the contacts of the tip over micro switch lowers the voltage slightly and the pilot will not remain lit till you jump the 2 tip over micro switch wires. Now the unit will run and the pilot will remain lit but the tip over function is gone. This an important safety feature. Bottom line, I think this thermocouple is sorta shot. The company suggests you start by simply shorting the tip over switch wires. If the pilot remains lit and the unit starts, the switch is shot. Contact resistance appears to be critical so a brand new switch is needed. If you still can't keep the pilot running, try taking a long neck lighter and heat up the thermocouple. It's to the left of the pilot light. Moving mine into the flame may only have served to buy me some time before replacement. If you find yourself dissassembling the unit be careful not to allow any of the 3 ceramic heating plates to fall out. They can and will. There are fragile and difficult to re-seat.

My pilot light will not stay lit. I have replaced the thermocouple and still will not stay lit. Can the valve be bad?

Make sure the thermocouple is deeper into the flame of the pilot light. It needs to reach a high enough temperature to produce a high enough voltage to keep the pilot light lit all the time. I do not think that the main gas valve is bad at all.

My larrs pool heater will ignite, but not stay lit

If your Laars will not stay lit then the pilot generator is faulty. That is the small brass and copper piped connection near the pilot flame. It must produce 250minivolts in order to open the main gas valve and keep the gas running into the pilot burner..

Pilot light wont stay lit even after thermocouple replaced

Hi, If you have replaced the thermocouple and it wont stay lit, make sure that it is good and tight where it screws into the mgv. The only other possible component that could be the problem, is the pilot coil on the Gas Valve. When the thermocouple is heated when it is lit, the gases in the bulb produce a small amount of electricity called milivolts. This was taught in Pysics class many years ago. Anyway, that voltage is what keeps the pilot lit so the gas valve will energize and open on a call for heat. When the space and t-stat are satisfyed, Main gas valve shuts down and pilot stays lit on a standing piloy system. So, it will need to be replaced. Before you replace it, make sure that the pilot flame is of a nice blue at the base with a small yellow tip, and it is large enough to surround the bulb. If not, this will also make it go out. You can clean the pilot tube but use a wire to **** it as compressed air will not blow out cob webs if thats a problem. There is an ajustment for the pilot, and is marked. Check all of this before you replace the valve. You may get lucky and find a small restriction at the pilot tube opening. You can get a valve at any appliance parts sales at a reasonable price. Please let me know how you are coming along and if you still need my help. Sincerely,

Do not know how to start pilot light

There should be instructions on the inside of the heater access door. Make sure you are comfortable working with gas heaters. Make sure the shutoff valve supplying gas to the heater is on. Turn the gas valve to "pilot", press and hold it while attempting to light the pilot. Once the pilot is lit, continue holding the gas valve knob down for about 30 seconds. The pilot should stay lit once you release the knob. If the pilot stay lit, turn the gas valve to "on". Replace the heater access door and make sure you have proper water flow and attempt to light the heater. If it will not light, or the pilot will not stay on, you will probably have to replace the pilot generator. It provides voltage to run the heater and after time it wears out and produces less and less voltage. A millivolt heater runs on less than one volt so any power loss can be a problem. If you are able, test the pilot generator with a multimeter to see if you are getting at least 500mv when the pilot is on. If not, you should replace the pilot generator or even the entire pilot assembly. Hope this helps...

Pilot light is lit, burner will not come on

The thermocouple must be in the flame of the pilot and producing a signal to the gas valve. Also check thermostat
