Water Damage I dropped my phone in water and it still works good but my battery now has a red dot on it is there any way of getting rid of it

The dot turns to red to show that the phone's been exposed to moisture. If your phone was still under warranty, this voids the warranty. I've heard reports that sweat or humidity can cause the dot to turn red. The first thing your service provider will do upon receiving a crapped out phone is open it up and look at the dot. If you can find another busted phone that still has a good moisture detection sticker you can carefully swap them with tweezers. This will be hard to find however. What everyone should do upon getting a new phone is to locate the moisture detection sticker and cover it completely with plastic tape. In this way you can protect yourself from your service provider or the phone manufacturers attempt to avoid responsibility for their faulty products.

Left phone in rain for 20 min. Very little moisture in phone and water marks untouched, but touch screen non responsive. Hard reset had no effect.

A phone in the rain for 20 mins is way more than enough time for it to get water inside. There still may be hope, but odds are against it. Turn it off now and take the battery out. Get a hair dryer and blow dry it for about 20 or 30 minutes. Don't over heat it, but keep it consistently hot the whole time. Let it cool and try it again. There is normally a white dot somewhere under the battery. If that dot has turned red, you definitely have water damage that voids any warranty you may have had. Good luck with the dryer.

White screen

did you drop it in water, ?did you press the screen to hard and cracked the lcd panel? those are the most common reasons, oh, and dropping it, and also dropping it in water. I would suggest going over all those possibilities.. open up the back of your phone and pull out the battery, in all phones now they have a water sensor dot, it remains white always unless the phone was damaged by water, and warranty doesnt cover water damage, look for that little white dot, if its red, that means you gotta get a new phone, and if you try peeling if off theyll know youre covering up water damage, unless you were able to somehow obtain another white color changing dot to put back in your phone now in the exact place it should be, but techs are very good at catching bluffs. but if that white is intact to begin with, your phone should be under warrenty of some sort, and that means they owe you a new one. bottom line. How do i find out if the motorola cliq im going to buy has had water damage?

when you pop the battery off there is a circular dot near the middle near the orange or black rubber thing that helps lock the SIM in and SD card.

The dot is likely either white or red. White should indicate that it is good and red if it had significant moisture/ water contact.

How can I tell if my LG Dare has water damage? I don't see one of the white or red round dots that people talk about.

Hi,

In order to check for water damage you need to remove the back cover and battery and check for a square or a dot on the back of the phone, this is called the LDI (liquid damage indicator). If the LDI is white then its not water damage, if its red or pink then the phone does have water damage. If you don't see the LDI it might have been removed by someone or by the water itself, you need to take it to a Verizon store so the can check the internal LDI.

Hope this helps,

Cell phone dropped in water - red dot showing - options?

you don't need to actually drop your phone in water for there to be water damage.
simple things like having your phone in the rain, in the bathroom while you shower, around a hot tub, or possibly even if it's really humid outside can set this water damage sensor off.
it just gives phone companies more ways to void your warranty.

hope this helped.

Phone will not turn on

ok, take out the battery and look and see you can see a white dot pice of circular paper, if it is red, your phone somehow got water in it, look at your battery(white dot paper) if it is red than you have water in you phone. now you need to dry it! leave it on your car dast board in the sun 24hrs or use a hair dryer ( use low heat) you must dry your phone and battery completely before the next step, Next step- find a good working battery and insert it in your phone, see if this will correct your problem, sometime the battery volt are very low or maybe the battery itself its bad, but make sure you put in a new battery to test this out, don't pay for the battery until you check you phone at the counter, ask for the right model for you phone.

good luck

Motorola Razor Water damage??

have talked with others who tried blow drying & then putting in freezer for few hours with phone & battery separate & yes the red normal after getting H2O damage shows the company out of warranty if you exchange phone through the warranty will be billed I think its like 110 or165 for At&t but if you call talk with them & tell them that phone stopped working screen blanked out & NO the red dot not there that it is white & ship your phone back when they receive it you will then be billed for it BUT when you call back in repeat OVER & OVER that when you sent it in that it was white & not your fault that warranty screwed up most of the time if you complain long enough you will get the charge removed :-) (work for cell company)
