Bad answer on a simplex fire alarm panel means that more than one device has the same address.

this is an addressable panel and each device on the initiating loop (id-net or map-net) has a unique address.

if you remove a device you will get a no-answer. if you just remove the head, you will get a head-missing.

if you have 2 or more devices with the same address, you will get a bad-answer.

the easiest way to find the offending device is to remove the one that you know is supposed to be in that address (the location should be on the label) and then test devices until you find the one that says it is that device.

remove this device or set the address correctly and you are all good.

SOURCE: what does juniper: true alarm true value mean?

Call your fire panel representative. I have seen this problem and consulted with the factory. It has something to do with the program loaded into your system.

I have a simplex 6100 program timer I am trying to figure out how to set the bell schedule. I have put the bells schedule in but the bells are not ringing.

Re-check the program to verify that the bell circuits are scheduled to turn on, and that the duration is correct. I assume you have the manual since you have programmed the bell schedule. If not, it can be found here: http://www.nawcc.org/images/stories/member_pdfs/574-401.pdf

Look it over and call an installation company if it doesn't look like something you want to attempt.

Is the Simplex 2001 panel an addressable fire alarm control panel

late answer i know.

but no, the simplex 2001 is not an addressable fire alarm panel. it is a zoned panel.

this panel has not been made for several years and new parts cannot be obtained. it may be possible to obtain used parts if you call your local simplexgrinnell office.
