Question about Brother MFC-5440CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Disk full error

When I try to download faxes to the computer (WIN XP Professional) I occassionally get a disk full error. I am using the Brother MFL-Pro Suite. This stops all other faxes from downloading and I have to clear the printer's memory before I can download more files. I have been reduced to printing all faxes because I can't rely on the program to send them to the computer.

Down laod xp recovery disk

If you're running Windows XP and Windows crashes or becomes unusable, you may have to run a Windows XP recovery setup disk to make your computer usable again. When purchased, many computers don't come with a Windows XP recovery setup disk, but you can download one for free from Microsoft. The Windows XP recovery setup disk holds the computer software and files that you need to assist you in rebuilding your operating system.

Place a formatted floppy disk in your floppy disk drive. You will need six formatted floppy disks. Visit Microsoft's Download Center and download the version of the setup disk for your version of Windows (see links in Resources). http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=E8FE6868-6E4F-471C-B455-BD5AFEE126D8 Home Edition http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8030 Professional Edition set up disks for floppy http://www.download3000.com/download_17676.html XP Recovery CD Maker Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional Edition have their own recovery setup disks and you must use the correct disk for your version of Windows. Click "Download" and then "Save." Find your floppy drive or optical media drive on the menu and click "OK." If Windows isn't functioning at all, you will have to perform these actions from a working PC. Remove the last floppy disk when the Windows XP recovery disk download is complete and place it in the computer on which you need to use it. Shut down your computer and then turn it back on. If your computer prompts you to boot from the disk, press Enter. If it doesn't, you'll have to go into your BIOS to set the computer to boot first from your disk drive. When your computer boots from disk it will automatically start running the Windows XP recovery setup disk from which you can then set up Windows XP. Hope this helps.

Remove windows from acer aspire 5100

I think you have dual Os on it i.e Win XP & Win Vista. So, I am sorry to say that you can not access the full factory restore from the recovery partion. At this point, I would suggest you to contact the Acer Technical Supprt and order for RCD (Recovery Disk) inorder to wipe everything from the computer or you can use a Disk Manager utility to wipe everything from the computer.You can visit the below link to download the software

I have 2 HDD's in my PC - both with Win XP Prop

Boot.ini is correct, but looks default is booting from Disk2 and partition 1 which is your G:\ 500 GB.

Try Copying boot.ini from c:\boot.ini to g:\boot.ini It might help

In your example I see missing "\" after partition(1), may be typing mistake, but in real time can generate error.

You boot.ini looks exactly same in both drive c:\ & G:\

[boot loader]
timeout=10
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(2)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="GUY DRIVE XP Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect

Note: boot.ini will be hidden and readonly file. You need to unhide the file and remote the read only option and then only you will be able to save the boot.ini file

Hope this helps

I have windows xp professional and when I run my

If you get the error-message when you try to boot your computer, your disk-drive is either:
1. not connected to the motherboard
2. improperly connected to the motherboard
3. dead/dying, so that the Operating System files on the disk-drive *CANNOT* be read.

So, the computer tries to boot from an "alternative" device (either the 3.5-inch device or the CD-ROM device) -- if you don't have any media inserted into either device, you will get the error-message.
