We have had this TV for about 16 months. Suddenly today after we we watched a DVD, we noticed these blue lines coming out of the bottom right corner of the screen. They are not perfect horizontal lines...somewhat like a 'mass', if you will. I have pictures, but can;t figure out how to post them. We have never seen them before, and at the moment only see them when that area of the picture is dark. Can someone tell me if this is the color convergence that need to be adjusted?
And if so...how to get to that little panel?

Re: KDF-55XS955 Blue lines
This is an optical engine problem - it needs to be replaced - it will only get worse. Sony has had problems with the optical block and is extending the warranty for this problem. (this is a LCD projection tv - there is no convergence)

i have the same problem but mine has a blue line surrounding the screen the tech took out the fly wheel part from inside this part has the 3 main colors with strips the blue side strip if you look at the glass it has the problem you see on your screen you have to replace that one section
if you have a Sony LCD projection ..Theres good chance optical block needs replacing .This spot will get bigger and will eventually cover most of screen the longer you use it .needs repair. If there is no warranty on this unit..I would estimate repair around 6- 8 hundred dollars ..
problem is going to defective optical engine $920.00 for repair sounds about right if not cheap. the parts cost is most of that price. check sony website or call and see if they will pay the repair cost for you.
I have the same problem. The repair guy said it's the optical engine and you may as well replace the set as pay for the repair. First time I'm glad I bought the extended warranty. That's another story.
