Honda pressure washer cuts out when lance trigger released.

Hi I have a Honda 1600 psi pressure washer which starts just fine with the lance trigger pulled and will stay working as long as I keep the trigger pulled . On release the washer starts to sound like its labouring and then cuts out. It will restart immediately and keep going again until the trigger is let go again. Anybody any ideas thanks, Brian

You most likely need to set your valve clearances. If it is hard to pull over or the recoil snaps back after starting your valves need to be set for sure. This may not be the entire problem but it is a good start. Also change the spark plug, a bad plug will cause odd problems and is too cheap not to eliminate as a source. In addition check your fuel, pour a little out into a white container (I like spray paint can caps for this) and look at the color. If it is yellow to orange it is bad. You can pour it into you car, the car electronic sensors will compinsate for it quality but a small engine can't. Use a NGK BP6ES or BPR6ES plug.
You need:
Feeler gages
10mm open end wrench
14mm open end wrench
1 long shaft screw driver or rod
1 spark plug socket and ratchet

Remove the spark plug and the valve cover. Pull the recoil over slowly until the intake valve opens (intake is closes to the carb and it will go down when it opens). Now put your long screwdrive down the spark plug hole. Slow pull the engine over until the screwdriver handle is at it highest point, this is top dead center. It may take a few attempts. Now check your valve clearance between the rockers and the top of the valve. The intake should be .006 and the exhaust .008, both can be +/- .001. To adjust: hold the large nut with the 14mm then loosen the small one with the 10mm. Lefty loosey. Now turn your large nut until you get the correct setting and then tighten the small one the lock it in. It may take a few attempts and alway reverify your setting after you lock it down. Once done, find top dead center again and reverify. Now your valves are set.

I have a honda 2600 pressure washer. After running fine for a couple of seconds the water will stop flowing out the tip. It is receiving water, but will not flow it to the pressure hose. I even disconnected...

This happens when air gets inside the hose. An air bubble of sorts is in the hose and will not build pressure until you blow the air out of the line. Start the pressure washer, turn on the water. pull the trigger on the gun. It will spitter and spatter and come to a trickle. release the trigger on the wand. Pull the trigger again and it will eventually work it self out.

NO PRessure

Hi It sounds to me like your unloader valve is stuck, this is the thing that is meant to move up and down when pressing the trigger. Please remove the unloader valve assembly and check for damage. If no damage is found then grease and lubricate this part and replace and this should work ok again.

My pressure washer will start, but when I pull the trigger it dies.

hi , first thing to do is a full service on it , clean the air filter , clean the spark plug, check the oil , clean the inline guaze filter on the water inlet side , open the small screw on the bottom of the carb bowl and drain out any water that may be in it , then try it with a water supply but without a hose and lance connected , this will let you know the engine and pump are working , some washers are fitted with a small piston/cylinder comming from the pump with a linkage leading to the carb this may be sticking/jammed , if you post more details we should be able to help

hi,
there is a small ball bearing inside the nozzle on the end of the lance , this can get jammed or missaligned and the nozzle orifice can get blocked , clean this or replace the whole lance with another 200 Bar lance .

hope this helps

Lost pressure

try this
dissconect hose and lance , and check for water flow through the machine , if theres none or just a trickle then you may have gunk in your inlet filter ( usually a small plastic gauze insert just where the water feed hose connects )
then start machine , check for high pressure flow ( you will see the difference )
its quite common for the nozzle on the lance to become blocked
if all this seems fine but the lance is vibrating then you have a blockage in one or more of your pump valves .

My Karcher vert shaft Honda powered washer cuts out when your washing kinda like when you release the trigger (except you haven't) like the relife is opening early what's wrong?

They USUALLY don't have aa true relief valve, but instead when pressure is up, it prevents any more water from enetering the pump.

REBUILD the valve as usually the O-rings in it are worn.

Goes for awhile at high pressure then just cuts off

does the engine cut off or the pump cuts off.
the honda engines has a oil alert on the side, check the oil level.
check the nozzle in lance for over pressuring

If you let the trigger on the lance go while in use the machine cuts out

hi, you are making the engine stall with having the unloader valve screwed to far down i would say, try dropping the pressure on the unloader and then try it.
the unloader valve could also be blocked.
