I have a Dell Dimension 4600 desktop PC, When I boot the PC the monitor works you can see the options and boot sequence, but when Windows XP starts loading the monitor goes blank. I can tell the PC is working because if I move the mouse or press a key the hard drive light goes on. I used the on board video and the AGP video card and the results were the same. I also tried different monitors.
even when I boot in safe mode the monitor goes blank. it shows the list of drivers then the screen freezes.even when I boot in safe mode the monitor goes blank. it shows the list of drivers then the screen freezes.

Did you recently change or install a program that would affect the resolution and card output? Try booting into safe mode by holding the "shift" key during boot. From there right-click on the desktop and hit 'properties'-> 'display properties' -> 'settings' , check your resolution and drop it to 800x600 and then reboot. If everything goes back in normally make sure you have the right windows drivers for your video card. You can also check the driver version and settings while you're in safe mode. Sometimes the windows update drivers can act screwy and I would recommend getting them directly from your card manufacturer.

Check the BIOS to make sure that the CD rom is the first boot devices in the bootup sequence, also make sure that the cd rom does show up in the BIOS.
Make sure that the CD Rom itself is good or the boot cd you are using is good, try it on other PC.
Reboot the computer and enter bios by..
When the blue DELL™ logo appears, press <F2> immediately You might have to try this a few times since you have to be really quick,
In system setup (bios) Set CD Drive as first device in the boot sequence. Press F10 then chose "Y" to save.
Reboot.
When asked if you want to start on CD just press any key.
Check your bios settings to make sure your video settings are correct for whatever card you're using. It sounds like you have a conflict between an onboard video card, and an aftermarket card.
try changing your graphic card ( VGA Card ) .. if the problem keeps coming then try the monitor on another computer .. if it works then you have problem with RAM drives
even when I boot in safe mode the monitor goes blank. it shows the list of drivers then the screen freezes.
