Performing a Full Reset A full reset is sometimes referred to as a ?hard reset.? Perform a full reset when you want to clear all settings, programs, and data from RAM. A full reset deactivates the battery. The power button does not function until the battery is reactivated. CAUTION: If you perform a full reset, your iPAQ Pocket PC returns to its default settings and loses all information that is not recorded in ROM. To perform a full reset: 1. Press and hold Application Buttons 1 (Calendar) and 4 (iTask) on the front of the unit and, at the same time, use the stylus to press the Reset button on the bottom of your iPAQ Pocket PC. 2. Hold all buttons until the displayed Full PDF document can be found here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpia8006/lpia8006.pdf

Simple Solution:

Perform a hard reset and then attempt to login repeatedly (10x).

You will then be prompted if you wish to reset the pin entirely.

Hp ipaq 5550

To do a full reset, you hold the calendar and itask buttons (buttons 1 and 4) down at the same time, then insert the stylus into the little hole on the bottom and press gently. Hold all for 4 seconds. The screen should begin to fade. Now release all. If successful, you will not be able to start the machine by pressing the on button. You will have to reconnect to ac power to start it.

That is all there is to it.

5550 not powering on

was the battery a exact replacement to the one you removed?

also do you have the power adaptor for it put the old battery back in and see if it will run off the adaptor with the old battery plugged in and then you know the issue is with the new battery and not the unit itself.

HP iPAQ RZ1710 Pocket PC freezes on pin entry!!

If still freeze after the resets, then try to do a Hard Reset.
With this way you will restore your device at the default condition.
Take care to remove any external memory from iPAQ before to this and also have it
full charged.

The bad of this....you will loose everything stored at the internal memory of iPAQ.
The good this...your iPAQ would be alive again ;-)

To to a Hard Reset press at the same time the reset button+calendar button+today button.

PAQ 5550 and MMC 4.x (Plus)

so MMC cards are the older version of SD cards. Ipaqs support the fast SD cards and all sizes up to the max.
