Just had to do a hard reset myself and it's not straight forward! While holding down the power button, BRIEFLY press the reset button on the back of the palm. DO NOT RELEASE the POWER button until you see the GRAY screen with the Palm logo (not the first screen with the palm logo). That should start the hard reset for you.

This means you have to perform hard reset, which will erase all the information you might have entered into device, hard reset is usually done by pressing "power" and reset buttons simultaneously and holding for couple of seconds, then release power button, after palm logo appears - release reset button

I tried to sinc my palm Z22 with my new computer, but It shows that my drivers aren't installed. what's wrong??????????????

Palm as a corporation went out of business years ago, and there are no drivers for the new Microsoft Windows versions that were made AFTER Palm no longer existed! HP (Hewlett Packard) bought the Palm Operating System and has the basic the basic drivers and manuals online, however, only "other" corporations that use various PALM type devices, now support interfacing. I have listed all those that I have found on my web page, dedicated to repairing, maintaining, and interfacing the Z22, at:
kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html
I do not SYNC my Palm at all, so that you will have to rely on all the USER comments that I have included.

My computer went down and I lost my calender info that was on Palm. I have a Palm Z22 which still has my calender. Can I sync the handheld with the computer only?

Hello cskennedy:

Many people are asking the same question, as well as how to deal with touchscreen and battery problems etc.

I have really explored all the aspects keeping a Z22 up and running, and have a complete web page devoted to this.

I am repeating a previous answer below:

The support page for the Z22 has moved around over the last couple of years. HP (Hewlett Packard) bought PALM and still has a fairly good coverage of what WAS available. Beware that Windows has gone to 64 BITS with Windows 7, Windows 8 etc, so that older software does NOT immediately work.
There are many features of the Z22 such as NEWS and GAME web portals that are shut down, so that peripheral connectivity is at a minimum.
HP has the last known working, native, connection software at:
http://kb.hpwebos.com/wps/portal/kb/na/zire/z22/unlocked/home/page_en.html
On my web page at :
http://kidbots.com/WEBADD/Z22_PALM_PILOT/Z22_PALM_PILOT.html

I have all the patches, fixes, work-arounds, maintenance, tips and tricks I could find.

Hope that this helps you to get your PALM Z22 working and useful once again!

good luck

Can I get my z22 repaired?

actually palm does not want u to change the batt they want u to buy a new device from them but u can do it

first check the charger voltage thru volt meter or confirm from other ways that ur charger is working fine , i am pretty sure that ur battery is Dead and it is difficult to replace but can be done if u have little expertise becoz Palm does not want u to replace the batt they want u to buy a new one when the batt is dead but u can do it thru following procedure

First check the specs on batt by taking it iut like this

How to Replace the Battery on a Palm Z22

The Palm Z22 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which, in theory, can be recharged an infinite number of times. In practice, however, the lifespan of a rechargeable battery is finite. Replacing the battery yourself is possible if you have some skill with tools and a bit of patience.

Instructions
Difficulty: Moderate
Things You’ll Need:

* Star-bit screwdriver
* New z22 battery
* Palm z22

What to Do
Step1
Pull down on the back cover of your Palm Z22, and remove the cover from the device.there is a trick to it. The little translucent bezel surrounding the USB connector can be snapped out, revealing two T-5 (Torx) screws. Remove the bezel and the two screws and the other three sides will separate with some gentle prying as you have already discovered.

The best way to remove the bezel seems to be to slip a knife (or a thin fingernail) into the joint closest to the display. It's a tight fit but you don't have to separate it very far to get it to pop out.

The battery is not "user replaceable" - i.e. it is soldered in place, but you can buy one online if you're prepared to do the solder work.

Step2
Loosen and remove the screws from the Z22's casing using a star-bit screwdriver.
Step3
If there are tabs present on the circuit board, you will need to stop immediately. Consult with a technician about removing the tabs.
Step4
Find the battery. Move it out of the case so you can have better access to the power supply lead.
Step5
Pull the power supply lead from the battery. Grasp the base of the plug firmly and disconnect in one smooth motion.
Step6
Remove the old battery from the case and insert the new battery into the same position and with the same orientation.
Step7
Replace the rear cover on the Z22 and charge the new battery for at least four hours before use.
Tips & Warnings

* Use firm steady pressure to open the case. Sharp blows and delicate electronics do not mix.
* A star-bit screwdriver is not the same as a Phillips screwdriver. The star-bit has a six-flanged head which looks a little like an asterisk when viewed head-on.
* If your battery has a blue casing on it, do not attempt to change the battery.

How to Buy a Replacement Battery for a Palm Z22

The Palm Z22 is powered by a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. This means that you can use it forever, right? Well, no, because even rechargeable batteries wear out eventually. Since Palm currently does not offer replacement batteries, you will have to track one down yourself. Here is how to buy a replacement battery for a Palm Z22.

Instructions
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:

* Palm Z22

Step1
Write down the technical specifications of the Palm Z22 battery. The battery is 3.7 volts and delivers 950 mAH.
Step2
Shop at your favorite local retailer, electronics store or battery specialty store. Take advantage of the sales staff’s knowledge in your hunt for a battery that is compatible with the Z22. Bring your Palm Z22 to the store to be sure that the battery fits.
Step3
Search for an online retailer who carries the Z22 replacement battery. Once you have found a couple of vendors that have the goods, shop for the best deal. Remember to include shipping costs into your decision.
Step4
Get information about return policies or money-back guarantees before shelling out any money. Returns may not be an option for the Z22 replacement battery due to the specific complications involved with lithium-ion rechargeable batteries.
Tips & Warnings

* You will need a tool kit to change your battery. The screws on a Palm Z22 require a star-bit screwdriver to loosen the shell.
* Correct use of your battery charger will prolong the life of your batteries, whether the original issue or replacement.
* Be sure that your batter is compatible. You don’t want to fry the Z22 with a high-powered, incompatible battery.

I just bought a palm Z22 PDA. I used the AC charger to charge the Z22 but when I attempted to attach the USB synch cable I noticed that the plug is different from the plug on the AC charger. The USB...

I have concluded that the USB synch cable is not the correct one for my Palm Z22 PDA. There is only one point of attachment on the PDA and it is different from the plug on the USB synch chord. This was the last Palm Z22 PDA in the store so I think that the store clerk rounded up leftover parts and components of previous PDA kits and tried to make a complete set out of it. I am going to return the PDA to the store (Staples) in the next day or two.
Thanks for your offer of help. I will contact you again in the future if I need help.

How to download current Zire info to new Palm Z22

My son said to just install the new software and see if it would transfer the data via the sync feature, and it did. The new Z22 software must have written over the existing Zire and incorporated all the data.
