My graphic card running so fast

Yesterday i bought this PC from someone. I went to him and check it there. It was working very well. Brought it to my house and thought to change HARDDISK. Opened PC and tried to change harddisk but the harddisk wasn't the same as i had one before. I closed the pc immediatly and turned it on... The graphic card has one fuzzer on it. It starts running fast then stops...it continues with that rhytme again and again...

SOURCE: my pc does not support windows xp sp3

What type of sound is the hard drive making? Clicking, grinding, loud whine's? Typically this is a sign that the hard drive is on it's way out, I've personally had bad expirence with seagate drives and I try to avoid there products. I would suggest backing that drive up to an external drive while you can, eventually that drive will die and need to be replaced, so back it up while you still can. I recommend Maxtor, or western digital drives, I've had great luck with those. Good Luck Hope this helps

Hi, I have an acer aspire 5542 laptop it was bought 4 months in Italy where my uncle bought it as a gift for me. 3 days ago when i got home from work i tried to open the laptop and the lcd is just black....

Hello,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. Unfortunately, most laptops have integrated graphics cards meaning, the graphic card is built into the motherboard. So, to replace the graphics card means you have to replace the motherboard, which can be more expensive(depending on who does the replacing).

You can try and find a replacement part yourself by visiting some online computer parts stores or maybe some locally.

I recommend trying the link below, which I use all the time.

If the laptop is under warranty, and the fault is not yours, Acer should not charge you. Depending on the circumstances maybe you can escalate the repair ticket to have the cost reduced or waived entirely.

Good luck.

Then your GPU is faulty, if it is still covered by warranty, contact the seller you bought it from,
otherwise you can try to have it serviced or purchase a new card.

Monitor blacks out after few seconds

Since you opened up the PC the first thing to do would be to make sure the graphics card (if it is a standalone card) is seated properly. Remove it, blow out any dust, and re-install it. If that does not fix the problem, or if the graphics are built into the PC, try getting a cheap video card (or borrow one from a friend) and that should fix the problem, since you have ruled out the monitor as the problem.

Also, it could be a problem with the power supply. I'd chase down the graphics card side first though. If that doesn't work, try the same procedure with the power supply.

Note: I have run into instances where an AGP slot got "zapped" by someone opening the case and not taking proper static precautions, so be careful, always unplug the PC and ground yourself to the case before touching anything. If you try a video card you know is functioning and it still doesn't work, pick up a PCI graphics card and see if that works.

Installed FSX & it worked fine yesterday. Tried to play it today & it says my graphics card doesn't meet minimum requirements. What gives?

Once you reboot or restart your system, FSX will run the checks that it didn't when you installed it hence the message. Upgrade your card and you will be okay. Suggest an Nvidia GTS250 if you want lighting fast graphics.

Blank screen with curser

If your Acer is brand new and less than 1 year old then I suggest returning it to the shop where you bought it and have it repaired under warranty. If you try to repair it you may void your warranty.

Monitor not working

It may well be dead. Try testing the monitor on another working PC. Also try a working monitor on the problem PC. Then you will know whether it's the monitor or the PC graphics card that's faulty.

How to properly install Asus N6200 AGP video card

Set refresh to 60hz
Set color to highest position.
If this is an LCD, set it to the highest resolution
If this is a 15" or 17" CRT, set resolution to 1024x768.
If this is a 19" CRT, set resolution to 1280x1024.

Also, do not use the drivers on the CD. Go too nvidia.com and download the latest there.

Also, if you can get into the BIOS, try to disable the on board graphics if you see an option for it.
