Is there any installation software for Zire 31 compatible with Windows 8?

My Zire 31 PDA worked reasonably well under Windows XP, but I cannot get it to synchronize under Windows 8, primarily (I believe) because Windows 8 is s 64-bit

There is a reset pin hole on the back of the unit; Hold the power button and push the reset button in the hole with a paperclip. All memory should now be erased.

My son said to just install the new software and see if it would transfer the data via the sync feature, and it did. The new Z22 software must have written over the existing Zire and incorporated all the data.

The program is installed in rom, look for program "Media", I suggest you to install for a better freeware program to manage photos on your handheld, like grxview lite (or the shareware resco viewer)

SOURCE: Unable to Synchronize with Vista 64 bit

Treo 650 can't be synced to Vista 64 via the cable, but Bluetooth works OK. Details later (I hope).

How do i perform a hard reset on my palm pda
  1. Step 1 Straighten a paper clip into a single line.
  2. Step 2 Locate the "Reset" button by spotting a small hole on the backside of the Palm Zire 31.
  3. Step 3 Push the power button on the Palm Zire 31 with your finger and hold it down steadily.
  4. Step 4 Push the paper clip into the "Reset" button's hole while holding down the power button.
  5. Step 5 Release the power button once the screen displays the "Palm Powered" logo.
  6. Step 6 Push the navigational key in the "Up" direction to complete the Palm Zire 31 hard reset.

How to sync palm data with Itouch? I have all my contacts & calendar on my Palm Zire. How can I get the same data over to my I touch in a Windows XP environment ?
You can sync to Outlook on the PC and then get the Outlook data onto the iTouch. If you have a newer PDA, It's install CD has a Sync options menu item where you can switch between Palm Desktop and Outlook. If you no longer have the original install CD or have an older device Pocket, Copy from Chapura.com It will move the Palm Desktop records to Outlook.

Wait till one is provided by the manufacturer. Palm Desktop: Windows 7 compatibility Palm's synchronization software, Palm Desktop 6.2, was designed for 32-bit versions of Windows XP and Windows Vista. Palm has not done thorough testing with the broad range of third-party equipment running Windows 7 and therefore can't provide assurances about compatibility.

according to the manufacturer no, however windows xp has a compatibility wizard that you could try. Might have to install in compatibility mode and run the program in compatibility mode as well. I had to do this with C&C red alert back in the day...

New computer running Vista won't recognize Zire 31-no driver?
Have you installed PalmDesktop to your new computer yet?

There is no Windows driver for the Zire 31, but you will need Palm Desktop before you can sync.

I still have a Zire 31 in a box in the garage, and I'm happy to dig things off of the CD if you need anything, just use "add comment" in the top right corner there.

Double Screen on Zire 31
Have you tried a reset? You might have to open up the case (carefuly, i broke the cables by accident on mine doing that)and wiggle the cables around, As they could have shaken lose over time. if all that fails, you might have to do a hard reset or re-instal the software.

Installing this PDA on Windows Vista Home Premium laptop
you shouldnt need a device driver for your pda to work along side with Vista, as Vista has it's own Windows mobile device centre which should run as soon as you connect your pda to a usb port. If it doesnt run, then open up windows mobile device centre in programmes and check the mobile device settings as to whether usb is set to connect to the centre.
