Our Maytag M7DH65B2A was working fine one day and the next and forevermore has not been collecting water. When on, the fan runs and I hear a relay click on and the lights dim about every 15 seconds. I've opened up the unit and checked connections and all of the sensors and nothing "looks bad" but after reassembling, it continues the same behavior, of running, seemingly applying the compressor, and yet leaving a bone-dry water bucket. Any advice as to how to narrow the fault to one of the 3 sensors - humidity, heat, and defrost?
This model has a small right-angle drain hole into the bucket that can easily get packed w. mold after a couple of months or years. If you have this problem (especially if water starts dripping onto the floor), take the case apart and clear the tray below the coils. This can fix a number of "not working" type problems.

Sorry to be vague in advance. I am a bit confused as to the compressor seems to be running bit. If the unit is on you should hear the compressor making a continuous noise. What you have described over a relay going click every fifteen secs could be the compressor overload / relay. If it is then the compressor is trying to start hence the dimming lights. Either way I would suggest one of two scenarios either the compressor is faulty or cannot start due to the relay or the unit is short of gas. Eiher way not a good scenario. I would suggest a tech to confirm or spend the money towards a new unit. Hope this helps.

Hi,
There
are many reasons why a dehumidifier will not work or collect water.
Here
is a tip that I wrote to help people to figure out what is going
wrong with their dehumidifier

We ended up replacing the Maytag unit with an LG EnergyStar compliant model...LHD65EBL which is running nicely. It's black and went for about $189 at Home Despot.
Having the same problems here. Unit is less than 2 years old. I think we are going to go to a different brand.
We have the same problem with our Maytag dehumidifier. We took it to be fixed twice while it was still under warranty, but when I went to turn it on this spring, the same thing happened. It sounds like it's running, but it's not collecting water. I guess we'll just have to buy a new dehumidifier. Too bad! I always thought Maytag was a dependable company.
I have the same problem. Fan runs, humidity sensor appears to be working, condensor sounds like it is running, but not one drop of water in the bucket. Unit is only 1 year old.
We are having the same problem. Fan runs, humidity sensor appears to be working, condensor sounds like it is running, but not one drop of water in the bucket. We bought our unit in August 2006. I'm really disgusted because I can't find the sales receipt and therefore can't take the unit in for service. Sounds like we're not the only consumers with the same problem. I searched the official Maytag website and my search returned not results for "dehumidifier" or "M7DH65B2A." I guess my only recourse is to buy a new dehumidifier.
I have the same problem. I took it apart and the condenser is running along with the fan. However not a drop of water in the bucket. It ran just fine last year. I got the unit as a X-Mas gift 2 years ago. I tried some of the tips that have been pointed out on here and nothing has worked.
I think I am going to get a new unit as Maytag is far from a dependable company anymore and from my past experience with my washer & dryer their customer service is awful. It is not a surprise that they were bought out and operations were closed up in many places as they started using cheap parts and it shows in their products. It looks like I am going to have to get a new dehumidifier and I will continue to tell people to stay away from Maytag products as they are not dependable and just a waste of money.
fan runs nicely but no water in the bucket. Removed back and found compressor motor hot ( not running). Unit worked good last year
Same problem. Cannot find any help from Maytag and I too cannot find my Home Depot receipt. How frustrating!
Same problem. Bought unit 2 years ago at Home Depot. Worked well for two years. Took it out this year and ran for two days and pulled very little water. Trying to contact service center for an assessment.
Yes, we bought the same model in 2006, it worked fine until this year. It collect little water, used to be a bucket within 24 hours, now barely cover the bottom for 2-3 days. I'm really upset to spend the $$$, just work 2 summers
Unbelieveable... I am having the same problem! It sounds like is is running normally but collects no water. It was running fine this May and then one day it started to give off a clicking sound and never collected any water again. I located my receipt and warranty booklet. I purchased it at Home Depot in May 2004 for $189. It came with a 5 year warranty so I thought I was covered........NOT so! After calling the warranty service at 866-MAYTAG1or 866-628-8241I was told that the unit was made by a company by the name of Fedders who paid Maytag to use their name. And guess what? That COMPANY IS IN BANKRUPTCY! so My warranty won't be honored. Can you believe that? I was so aggravated. Here I thought I was buying such a good reliable product.
I have been searching for a new one checked out Home Depot, Lowes, and Sears but havent purchased yet. Would love a recommendation
Yes we are having the same exact problem. Model M7DH65B2A. Spent extra money on a Maytag figuring it would be a good unit. It stopped collecting water but is running fine Stopped working June 17th 2008 .I had it less than 2 years. I have maintained it well..always keeping the filter cleaned etc. Thought I'd look here to see if it was worth fixing or had an easy fix..guess not!! Bought a new unit..different brand.Last dehumidifier I had did not cost what my Maytag had cost an ran steady for 16 years with no problem.
I bought the same model. That is Maytag M7DH65B2A Dehumidifier. This is a bad Dehumidifier. It ruined the Maytag name for me. Will think twice before buying anything from Maytag ever again.
Yup --- we have the exact same model, with the exact same problem. I took the covers off to see if there was any obvious problem, but it looked fine inside (like new, despite being at least 5 years old). The unit runs constantly, but collects NO water at all.
I was searching for information on how to further diagnose and repair the unit, but after seeing this web site and all of the exact same problems with this unit, I believe I will just head to Home Depot and replace it with a new unit (..but definitely NOT Maytag...).
