RCA drc200n dvd player turns on & reads disc but

I finally found a code that works. Code 3144 worked. I am using the RCA universal remote control RCR412S and RCA DVD player DRC200N. The code 3144 is listed under Memorex in the code book that came with the remote control.

I got the RCR612 remote to work with my DRC200N by using Memorex code 3318, see if that works, also try 3391 and 3314, I read a lot of people got those to work.

This sound like a problem with the laser read circuits and it may be solved with a simple cleaning and using compressed air to clear the unit of debris .To do this you must take off the top cover of your unit by taking out the screws and lifting the top off. To clean the laser head you should use cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol. put a small amount on the cotton swab and rub the swab gently back and forth over the head, until it seems bright and shiny.Check the transport carriage for dust and debris and also the gears. all these must be clean for proper operation. You may want to put a little lithium grease on the gears and guide rails for smooth operation. All this should be done in minute amounts so you do not over do it and cause more problems. If all this fails to allow you to use you disc player, Then you probably have a worn out laser sensor and will have to have it replaced. If under warranty send it in and if not try to find the part number and order it and either take in to a service center for repairs or do it yourself. Hope this helps you with your problem.

If the player does not play even known working discs (both CD and DVD), you may want to try first to have the lens cleaned out with a disc cleaner which should be available in most DVD stores. If that does not work you may want to open the device if it is out of warranty and inspect the drive and the head. See if the lens is actually moving or may need replacement.

usually this happens when lens cannot read the the disc. Due to few reason 1 Your disk is scratched 2 Your DVD lens is covered with dust 3 You need to replace DVD lens
Try another few CD/DVD to rectify whether there is any problem with dvd you are trying to play
if this error occurs on all the dvd you played then the most likely proble is with your DVD lens either its coverd with dust use Disk cleaner if not you got to replace a new DVD lense as per model
