Check your x-files games CD is which type of System it is(eg: PAL,NTSC-J,NTSC-U/C ) and compare it with your PS2 console system if both are same then only it will work. i mean to say that for example if your game CD is PAL so your PS2 console system should also be PAL version.

Maybe the disk speed isn't set right, sometimes. Older PS1 games require a higher or lower spin speed than what you have set, try changing it to either high or low and see if that helps any. Also, have you checked the disk for scratches?

I have sonyplaystion 1 yes i no old.....can i buy sonyplaysation 2 games for the playstaion 1 console.....

No, it will not be compatible. If you would like to play PS1/PS2, and eventually PS3 games, look into buying a original launch "Backwards Compatible" PS3. The model is CECHAO1. Good luck.

I can only play some games on my ps2 i cant play any of the Need for speed games. i tried deleting old saved files dealing with nfs and my system configuration. Still wont work. Any other ideas to get...

If you have the original PlayStation 2 console, there was a problem with it playing some of the newer games released for the ps2 after the slim was released. You can try using a laser lens cleaner to clean the laser, but the original ps2 just simply won't play some games.

My playstaion 2 wont play any discs

The eye in the tray might be scratched or damaged. This happens with age and the way the Playstation has been setting as well. It is more likely to wear out faster when it is standing upright. Try to play a movie or a game with the playstation in the horizontal way. If not the eye could possibly be damaged beyond repair.

Fake cds

In order to play copied games, you will first have to mod your PS2. To avoid piracy, much of the necessary info on the original disc will be omitted during the copy phase. When you "mod" or put in a new chip, The PS2 can now bi-pass this info and continue to the game. Regardless of the type of PS2 you have, you must put in a mod chip to read back-ups.

It says..please insert a playstaion or playstation 2 disc format.

It's not asking for a specific disc, it's asking for a properly formatted PlayStation disc.

This message could mean that any one of several things has happened:
* You are trying to play a Japanese disc on a US PS2, or vice versa
* You are trying to play a game that has been copied onto a CD-R/DVD-R
* Your disc is scratched/dirty/otherwise unreadable
* Your disc isn't a format that the PS2 recognises (i.e. CD, DVD, PS CD-ROM, PS2 CD-ROM, PS2 DVD-ROM, etc)
* Your PS2 is broken

You need to plug the controller in before you turn on the ps2. Don't change out controllers unless you reset the game system.
