Question about GE Profile PSS26NGS Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

Not cold I actually have a GE Profile PSC23NGSB. Lights are flashing, the fridge and freezer are not cold. Tried everything in the troubleshooting manual. Nothing is working. Can't find a "showroom" button. Unplugged and plugged back in and tried a new outlet to no avail. Any help is appreciated as it is Sunday. Thanks.

Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

GE fridge is warm and broken; the freezer is cold though.

Air circulation problem. Evaporator fan in freezer moves some air to refrig. Either fan is not working or air passages are blocked with ice. If ice found, then a defrost component failure has occurred. Fix what you find.

Freezer works, but fridge doesn't

try checking the fan in the freezer at the top which pushes the coldness over to the freezer

Use the damper control to direct less air into the refrig compartment from freezer

Not cold

The most likely suspect is a defective WR55X10656 main control board. The board is located on rear of refrigerator and the fridge will need to be unplugged to examine it. Remove cover to the board by removing the sheet metal screws on the cover concealing the board. Examine both sides for burn marks or signs od heat or loose solder damage. If you find no problem there then we will mover to the next step. You can see a photo of that control board at both site below. Enter your model or part number in the search feature to check for those or other parts. Let me know if you need more help. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Wow, so you dropped some money into it, eh? I would take a look at the damper door asslb(DIFFUSER). located at the very top left of your refrigerator section in back. It has a motorized door that opens and close's and it may be stuck open. More than likely it is broken and needs to be replaced. GOODLUCK!!!!

FYI: All your cold air in your refrigerator comes from your freezer!
