I am getting an error 502 and I wanted to remove the print cartridge. However, the carrier will not slide to middle position. Do I force it to move to the middle position or is there a unlock mechanism that will allow it to slide easier to middle. Thanks for you assistance.
Error 502 is a hardware problem code. Two solutions for you: 1)On the A940 there seems to be a coating on the metal rod that the cartridges travel on. See it back there? With the power disconnected, wipe this rod with a kleenex and the problem seems to go away. It presents a drag on the cartridges and causes the 502 error. You might have to GENTLY forcibly slide the cartridge a bit to each side to finish cleaning the rod. ONLY DO THIS WITH THE POWER OFF!! 2) Or you can also turn off your printer, then slide the cartriges all the way to the left, and GENTLY wipe the encoding strip running right behind the cartrige carrier.(it will look like a translucent piece of plastic strip in most printers). Wipe it down with a soft cloth gently, then slide the cartriges all the way to the right, and repeat this process. When you are done, simply close the cover, power back up, and see if it will print a test page for you. ZT3000 "Beta tester of "0"s and "1's"

Thanks Zt3000,
I tried cleaning, but that did not fix the problem. Initially, my wife replaced the ink cartridges with wrong part. It was for A920 Printer. I could not get the carraige to move to center in order to get access to the cartridge. After several button sequences, the cartridge finally released so that I could slide it to the middle.
Thanks for your response.
