Is the TV connected to cable? Is there a cable box? Is it connected to a satellite box? How is the signal connecting to the TV - the F connector, the red, white, yellow, red,white,,s-video or component RCA jacks? If you can see the onscreen menu then it usually indicates that the TV is working fine and the problem is with the signal into the TV.

The next thing to try is to go into the TV's menu and make sure that the brightness and contrast are set normally. If those are set too low then you might have no video but the on-screen menu will work. If the brightness and contrast settings are normal but you get no picture at all, there is something wrong with the video processor circuits, and that must be repaired by a qualified tech familiar with projection TVs.
