After a power outage, the ATT 854 rings constantly. This isn't the regular ring but instead one of the paging or intercom rings. I tried removing the batteries. Help!

Changing the vms hunt delay on a Partner ACS system is done on either
ext 10 or 11. At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00" next press the left hand intercom twice the display should say system programming enter in "#505" the display should say VMS Hunt Delay and mode:
enter 1 for day mode or 2 for night mode
enter line you want to program in 2 digit format (line 1 =01)
enter number of rings (2) press feature "00" to logout
I had the same problem on my Lucent 854 phone. It could be because the intercom number hasn't been assigned yet. To assign an intercom number, leave the handset in the cradle, then hit PROGRAM (which on my phone was on the bottom row on the far left of the speed dial buttons), then *, then #, then hit a two digit number, then press the intercom button.
If it works, you'll hear a louder ring, then your ringing will stop.
Your system lost its programming. It will need to be reprogrammed completely. The lines are ringing on the extensions where I voicemail is, unplug voicemail and at least lines will ring in correctly.
Im guessing by Lucent 308 you mean Lucent Partner ACS. Changing ringing on a Partner system is done on either ext 10 or 11.
At one of those ext's press the feature key and "00" Next press the left hand intercom twice The display should say system programming
Press the right hand intercom once. The display should say Centralized Programming.
Enter in the extension number that you want to program.
Press the line that you want to ring.
A solid light on the line means immediate ringing
A slow flashing light means delayed ringing (meaning the phone will wait 3 rings before starting to ring.)
A fast flashing light means no ringing.
When finished with that station press the right hand intercom and enter in the next extension to program and set ringing accordingly.
Press feature key then dial #* password 000000 next, go to sets, hit show, hit next till ringing assingment is display hit show and change from n to y on line ringing assingment. do this for each set and line that need to ring.
I take it you do not want all the phones to ring? You can change what phones ring under different circumstances by programming the main phone system. You can get all the manuals at www.avaya.com I'd start by searching for "Partner R4.1" at Avaya and see what shows up. It will take some time to learn the system and how to program it but it's usually worth the effort for simple changes like this. You will probably find yourself needing to make a few simple changes now and then.
