Loud Fan My acer aspire 5002 laptop fan is really loud and annoying. I was wondering if there was anyway to quieten it down, also it stays on almost all the time even if i'm not doing very much. I thought maybe it needs to be lubricated but i'm not sure exactly how to remove it.

Hi, I am afraid that your problem is common to this laptop brand/model. A reason is that it uses AMD Turion64 with reported nominal operating temp at ~50.0?c. At ~55.0? the CPU fan will kick in until the temperature stabilizes which unfortunately takes a long time due to the nature of the enclosed spaces in a laptop. Also lubrication will help improve the fan but will not solve the noise nor the turning on quickly, other than it's a complicated and tedious job opening the unit. Other users of the same model reports positive results by lowering the supply voltage of your process.
