The Bose EQ connects to the tape out and tape in on the amplifier or reciever. If you were using these for a tape deck, you will then have to connect the tape deck to the tape in and out on the Bose EQ.

Amp out and amp in for bose eq.hook up

Examine your receiver to be sure it has a tape monitor loop. Receivers with a tape monitor loop will have a button or switch on the front for "Tape Monitor," and have two sets of RCA connections on the back, one labelled "Tape In," and the other "Tape Out."

  • 2

Take the two cables that are provided with the 901 speakers and insert one end of the first cable into the "Amplifier Input" jacks of the equalizer. Connect the red connector to the R input and the other connector to the L input. Connect the other end of this cable into the "Tape Out" connections on the receiver. Again, hook red to R and the other to L.

  • 3

Connect the second cable between the "Amplifier Output" jacks of the 901 receiver and the "Tape In" connections on the receiver. Follow the guidelines in Step 2 for R and L connections.

  • 4

Plug the 901 equalizer into a 120-volt electrical outlet. Your 901 equalizer is now installed.

Trying to hook up bose 901 v to sansui 8080db is

Just remove the Pre-Out to Main In jumpers and connect the Active Equalizer there. This way it will affect only the power output to the amp and speakers but not to any of the Tape Loops. If you need more, look around on Fixya for 901 advice and you'll find about a million posts by me for many scenarios, including multi-channel.

I have an old integrated amplifier and an old BSR EQ-3000 stereo frequency equalizer. i just bought a used bose 901 speaker set. how do i hook-up the bose 901 equalizer in this system?

Hook the signal source to the equalizer input and the equalizer output signal to one of the signal inputs on your amp. This is one way, but this way only one signal source will go through the equalizer (unless it has several signal inputs and a source selector switch).

The other way (inserting the equalizer between the preamp and the main amp) is:

If your amp has RCA connectors on the back named "preamp out" (or similar) and "power amp in" (or similar) that have slugs connecting them, remove the slugs, hook the "preamp out" signals from the amplifier unit to the signal inputs on the equalizer and outputs from the equalizer to the "power amp in" inputs on the amplifier.

Basically, what you do is that you insert the equalizer between the preamplifier section and the power amp section of the integrated amplifier so that you can still select the signal source without having to switch any signal cables (however, i can't say if your amp has got this type of "slug" connection feature between the preamp and the power amp on the rear panel, so i'm not sure which way you'll have to hook it up).

Hope you can make it work the way you want.
