My washer will not spin off the water

My maytag legacy will not spin out the water. The drum spins fine.

In the last few weeks my washer has been sounding "sick" when spinning out the clothes, it has been making more noise than normal. Tonight when I come home to do laundy, I find that it hasn't spun out the water and clothes are still soaked. I can turn it on the spin cycle and it sounds fun, sounds like it is spinning, but the tub won't move. Any suggestions?

Just looked at mine the belt is broken.
You have to remove the motor and take the pump off to replace it.

Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. Check as well that pumps spins. Good luck

Maytag legacy series washer

The drive motor which spins the drum is connected to the drum by a rubber belt. Sounds like the belt is burned through. Make sure you can spin the inside tub by hand to verify that the tub can turn freely before you replace the belt. The hum is from the drive motor just spinning freely.

What would cause my maytag front load washer not to spin? It is a Maytag front load washer and it will not spin. The water drains out no problem just doesn't spin. Also the drum looks lower than it no

The drum bearings may have failed , Or the spin motor winding in the motor burnt out ,
Or the selector switch contacts are not engaging in spin cycle

During wash cycle of my Maytag Legacy SAV515DEWW, tub moves freely and after spin cycle, tub keeps spinning for a while.

Maytag has a drum brake located on the bottom of yor machine. You need to remove the brake and clean it up or perhaps replace the device.
Google Maytag washer drum brake for several "how to"sites

My washer''s agitator spins but not the drum during spin cycle.

If you see the agitator moving, but not the tub..I guess, you have a defective transmission..this is tough without knowing a little more info.

Washer not spinning and draining water

I just had a similar problem. I broke down and had a repair man come out to take a look. He pulled off the front lower cover, took off the inlet hose on the water pump, and found my two year old daughters sock stuck in the turbine of the water pump. The motor runs both the drum and the pump, therfore it would not spin, and would not let the water drain.

Everything was fine until tonight. I'm having the same problem again. I pulled everything off just like my repair man did, but no sock. I think I might wind up pulling off the whole pump to check the otlet side.

Anyone else have any suggestions?
