Make sure your camera is set to output to computer and not just to the screen it should be in the manual. Your computer may not have the card necessary for capture or the card may be off or un-installed. If the camera settings are correct shut down the computer. While its off plug in your camera. unplug all other devise using USB ports, Ee-boot you may hear a sound but you should see a window on the desktop asking you what you want to do. (Windows-XP2 or Media edition) If you don't see this window then you may have to upgrade the USB to a USB2. Control panel>Systems>Hardware>Open Device Manager Scroll to you see the USB ports right click 1st on each one depending on how many USB ports you see there. Will take a a few sec onds on each one. If you don't find any then click you may files transfer after checking the ports then go up the tree to see if you have media Controls etc..etc...right click each one and click on update driver. If no driver updates then your camera may have the option firewire for transfer as an alternative which is better. Last thing to do is uninstall the USB port the camera's connected to then re-install it from the same tree. Make sure you don't have more than 1 video program on your computer if you do the camera may be using the other software package and can also be a cause of your problem I hope this gets you where you want to be this is written by personal experience and by no means am I answering your post and saying this will work for you. I hope it does.

Hi, Based on your post/description, a couple of possible reasons: 1. The drivers were not initially loaded/installed - use the original CD that came with the handycam to install/reinstall the drivers; or 2. The USB cable or USB port is faulty - replace or try another port; 3. You have to manually select the video capture device; 4. You don't need to "capture" but "Import Video" i.e. use an existing movie file that is saved in your handycam - copy, paste or use; Hope the above give you an idea or two. Pls post back how things are or if you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.

I have a sony hdd handycam camocorder and i'm trying to upload photos from the camera to my laptop but I get a message on my screen saying "check the connected device" and my computer says no photos are...

try a different usb cable. mine did that, used different cable and now it works fine. also you could try reinstalling the usb utility from the installation disk that came with the camcorder.

Hi All, I have DCR-TRV238E Digital 8 Handycam... I want to transfer the recorded video to my computer... Can you please tell me where i can download the software to upload the video on to my computer...

All of pre-HDD cam does have FireWire port somewhere in it (or at the docking station in case of SONY's)

In order to capture the footage from the cam to your PC,you need the Firewire card and the cable.Should be available at any computer hardware store. All you have to do is to install the card to your PC,connect your cam to your computer via the cable, then capture the video by your favorite video editing software.

Yes,that sounds a bit more difficult than drag-and-drop work in USB-connection camera, but not too difficult to understand,of course.

How do i download a video into my computer from the Sony Handycam DCR-HC21 Mini DV Digital Camcorder

There are two way to upload your picture's or video's to your pc:

  1. You can upload video to the use of your camcorder connector. Connect your USB cable to your camcorder and plug it to your computer. You need to turn on your camcorder so that it will be recognized by the computer.
  2. You can upload also your video's with the use of memory card reader. Remove your memory card from your camcorder and insert it to the card reader. Plug the card reader to the computer. The computer will recognized the card. Now you can upload your photo's or video's.

Uploading video from my Cannon Elura 100 to my MacBook

try using the image capture utility when connected to the computer. canons are notorious for forcing you to use image utilities (picture wizard in windows and image capture in macos). my canon xsi did the same thing.

To transfer tape data to computer

the way you can transfer your videos on your computer is by using USB cable and install the driver to your computer. You can upload your videos by saving it on ULEAD products. As far as i know you cant transfer videos from disc to your memory card unless it was been converted but you cant view or watch it on your camcorder itself only computer can play this because your camcorder is not able to play such converted files.
i will give you a step by step on your camcorder.

  • connect your camcorder using your USB cable to your computer and be sure it is ON
  • Install the cd driver camed with your camcorder. if you didnt prompt on looking for a driver then go to the add hardware on the control panel and follow the procedure there.
  • after the installation you should see the icon on the my computer labeled scanners and cameras and indicating the model of your camcorder.
  • Install Ulead Power Producer or any editing movie that you have like Windows movie maker, nero movier maker etc.. i prefer to use Ulead because its so easy to use
  • after uploading and editing your videos using ULEAD save it on any various types of videos that you like. you should see it after you want to save it.
  • burn your videos on NERO software
Hope you understand my procedures. Let me know if you have problems Good Luck!
thank you for using fixya
