When it is turn on, either in camera or playback mode, the camera does not function, that is none of the button work at all. though the side screen can still sell pictures as happens when recording. when a ape is inserted, the power (red)light blinks until the camera turns itself back off within 70 seconds, please help as I have seen others with similar problems, thanks.

If that is happen and when you eject the tape there are some tape left...open the camera and unplugged the capstan motor wiring to the socket and put it back again....to make sure it last solder it to the circuit board..please don't attempt to do this if you are not a technician ok...

What it sounds like is there is a formatting error. What i would suggest is updating your software and trying it again. If this is not the case please write back and i would gladly help.

The camcorder may be in what may be called "narration mode." This function mutes the playback audio so you can narrate with you own voice when playing tapes back. Check for a function like this in the playback sound menu.
