Thanks for asking your question with Fixya Support. I will be glad to assist you.
To help with getting your battery to charge, try resetting the PMU
-PMU RESET-
The Power Manager (PMU) is an integrated circuit (computer chip) that is usually on the logic board of your Mac computer.
It is responsible for power management of the computer. It controls backlighting, hard disk spin down, sleep and wake, some charging aspects, trackpad control, and some input/output as it relates to the computer sleeping.
• If the computer is on, turn it off.
• Now refer to this article from Apple.com Support
Resetting the
PMU for Powerbook and iBooksIf this process does not help to allow your battery to charge normally, you more than likely have a battery which may be either dead or eventually will die in its charge capability.
What I would recommend if that is the case, would be to consider purchasing a new battery from Apple or via a third party reseller like online Apple authorized resellers like Amazon.com, MacMall.com or Fry's Electronics for example. You may also Google with keywords "purchase iBook battery " and shop for the best priced iBook battery.
Again, you would only consider the latter, if the former procedure listed above does not help.
I hope this helps.
