Hi all - Our freezer (about 1.5yr old) has this code on the front display. The cooling has stopped. I read on the site that it is the freezer fan that is dead and we need to defrost it...this will be the second tim ein as many months that we have defrosted the freezer (first time becuase the fan was loud and the repair man said that was the solution). In another posting i saw that it is actually due to a faulty module (text posted below). If anyone knows who to speak with there (name or department) to get them to replace the faulty piece i would be very grateful for the information as i just spent 30 useless minutes ont eh phone with customer service telling me there is no such faulty equipment and that i must be using the freezer incorrectly....
thanks for any assistance.
Andy and Catriver, I have an UPDATE!!! The repairman told me that the computer module is the problem and LG has since re-engineered it. He probably talked to 8 different people at LG service but he finally got them to APPROVE the $400 repair bill and install the updated module. My unit was 2 months out of warranty.
The repairman said he has fixed the same issue 7 times in the last week here in the Cincinnati area.

Unplug the LG fridge and wait 20 minutes - Plug back into power - Many times the code will clear or reset. If not keep reading below... -The majority of the time it is the freezer fan causing the Er FF error code. The FF error code indicates that the freezer fan motor is defective. https://removeandreplace.com/2017/08/27/lg-refrigerator-error-code-er-ff-how-to-clear/

Error Code Er FF This code is not to be confused with the O FF or demo mode error message. The "Er FF" error code indicates a problem with the unit's freezer fan. The freezer fan controls the temperature in the freezer. The source of this error is most likely ice buildup. As with the Er IF error, allowing the unit to thaw should resolve the issue. Contact customer service if the error code continues to be displayed after having thawed the unit.
The common service code ER FF is
Abnormal freezing
BLDC motor
Motor defect, hooked of lead wire
to fan, contact of structures with
fan, short or open of lead
wire(there is no signal of BLDC
motor more than 115 seconds in
operation of fan motor)
Er FF - Freezer Fan Error - This can be caused by frost accumulation on or around the freezer fan. Unplug the unit for 3-4 hours to allow this to melt off. If error code persists, call Customer Service.
er-ff is freezer fan error not running, check for ice build up around fan,a know issue.if ice build up a new main board will be needed.or just a bad fan..
The ER-FF problem that you have is: ERROR -FAN FREEZER so it means that you have a problem with maybe the fan motor or if it's a bottom mount freezer maybe ice built up on the fan motor so it's blockin the fan motor.
Hope i helped u a little bit ! :)
