The IR sensor on the main circuit board may have gotten zapped or possibly the window where the IR signal passes through may need cleaned. It's located on the front of the set near the control buttons. Stargazer

Remote want work on tv

Hi,

Make sure that you're using the supplied Remote (RMY-906) to control the TV. If so, perform the steps given below to resolve the issue.

  • Make sure that you're using batteries which are having enough charge. Try using fresh alkaline batteries.
  • Do not use rechargeable batteries in the Remote.
  • Ensure that the batteries are inserted correctly with the correct terminals by checking the + and - symbol in the battery compartment.
  • Make sure that the Remote is set to operate with the correct functions. On the remote control, press the TV FUNCTION button to re-check this.
  • Press the POWER button and other buttons to test the operation.
  • Make sure that none of the buttons are jammed in the remote control.
  • Ensure that the remote control is being used no closer than 3 feet and no further than 10 feet away from the unit. Try using the remote control at varying distances from the TV.
  • When using the remote control, be sure to point it directly at the remote sensor on the device.
  • Remove any obstacles that may be in the path between the remote control and the device.
  • Ensure the remote sensor of the device is not exposed to direct sunlight or bright florescent lights, as this can interfere with the sensors ability to receive signals from the remote control.
  • Try resetting the Remote. To reset the Remote. remove the batteries from the remote control, press every button twice, and then reinstall the batteries.
  • Try resetting the TV also to check the operation. To reset the TV, disconnect the power cord for a short period of time (approximately 1 minute), then reconnect the power cord and power on the television.

If the remote control is able to operate other devices (such as cable box, DVD Player or satellite receiver), then the issue may be with the IR sensor on the TV. If this is the case then the TV that will require service. Otherwise, the remote control may need replaced.

Good Luck!

My television no longer accepts commands from the remote control. I have verified that the remote control works properly. Please advise.

Since remote control is verified so next thing involved in remote operation is remote sensor located on front of tv that receives remote signals.
Remote sensor seems defective in your tv and need to be replaced to solve remote issue.
Call local tv repairman if you have no experience of soldering parts in circuit board.
Thanks.

Not able to turn tv on with remote

First try changing the batteries.
Next make sure when you press function on the remote control the red light on the remote displays under tv

Next try a remote reset:

You have to unplug the television after turning it off. Take the batteries out of the remote control. Point the remote toward the remote sensor (bottom right hand corner of the television set). Press the power button on the remote control and hold it down for 30 full seconds. Next press and release every button on the remote control. Next plug the tv back in and power it on from the power button on the television itself. Replace the batteries. Adjust the volume using the remote control. If that works the problem is solved. If it doesn't work you may need a software update, a new remote control, or repair to the sensor on your television.

To see if your remote control is working look at it through the viewscreen of a digital camera. The digital camera must be turned on and ready to take a picture. Next press a channel button on the remote control. Do you see a bluish white light? If so the remote control is ok.
