SOURCE: I have a Hayward H series spa/pool heater. It will not light.
IF stands for ignition failure, one possible cause is that the two sparker prongs are not spaced properly, i have seen this before several times. The correct distance for them to be spaced apart is the width of two quarters side by side... not like this....OO, the other way so the are flat. To access that you have to take out the heat exchanger, which requires unhooking high limit switches in the back, unhooking the pressure switch, thermostat wire, and plumbing...just remember where everything goes. Before you do that though check this simple thing...there are a number of brass orifices that shout gas to the burners, use a 7/16 wrench to take off the one that is to the extreme left, which is on the igniter side of the heater, inspect the orifice to see if there is blockage, like a spider web or something. If it is blocked, clean it out and also look down the burner itself to see if it is free of blockage. And because we all make simple mistakes.......make sure the gas is on.

sounds like a flame sensor.remove ignitor assembly and clean with fine emory cloth or steel wool.when properly cleaned it should feel smooth for entire length of sensor

One of your limits is not working or not wired up. An easy way to check the limits - Water pressure switch, Hi limits, air pressure switch all of which have 2 wires going to them. Unplug one item and connect the 2 wires together ( paper clip works fine ) Then retest, if problem does not go away remove paper clip and reconnect wires and move to the next limit. The limits are located in the black plastic header. Always make sure water is flowing through the heater at all times while checking the limits.

You didn't indicate your exact model. There are different versions of the H200 series. If it is milivolt then there is no electric, Must have correct milli-volt pilot generator. If it's electronic, check the air flow pressure switch on the combustion air.
