Replaced the bulb about a month ago. Shortly thereafter, a light blue "tint" showed up just off the center of the screen. It has progressively gotten bigger in size and slightly more severe in color. If a video game/movie/tv show is paused for more than a few seconds, an 'imprint' of the picture remains on the screen after the image changes. Did I do something wrong with changing the bulb, did I get a bad bulb, or is it something completely different? Thanks!!
BSA is right, this light engine is a korean/sony hybrid. Sony has been through NUMEROUS class action lawsuits for faulty designs, infact they dropped the rear pro line all together because of it. Save your repair money and buy a new samsung plasma or lcd.
The problem is an expensive one. The blue display has become distorted due to excessive heat overtime. The blue display is closest to the lamp and gets most of the heat. The Light Engine must be replaced by a repair shop to correct the problem.

I have same problem, off center to the left there is about a 6 inch blue band from top to bottom and it leaves the imprint of the last picture if there were any lines or words on it in the next channels picture. I think the bulb or the lamp just went today as there is no picture and there are two flashing red lights but the blue haze has been there for months. The TV is a 2005 model and I think I have had it for around 3 years it and is on an average of 8-10 hours per day and longer on the weekends so I got a lot of use out of my first bulb! Not so sure I want to replace the bulb if the blue haze is not related to the bulb. I was told might be one of the color jets that is off which might have resulted from the vibrations from the surround sound?
i have the same problem. did the blue haze go away? how much was the bulb and was it difficult to replace?
