Giant blue spot on 50" Hitachi LCD HDTV

Replaced the bulb about a month ago. Shortly thereafter, a light blue "tint" showed up just off the center of the screen. It has progressively gotten bigger in size and slightly more severe in color. If a video game/movie/tv show is paused for more than a few seconds, an 'imprint' of the picture remains on the screen after the image changes. Did I do something wrong with changing the bulb, did I get a bad bulb, or is it something completely different? Thanks!!

I have same problem, off center to the left there is about a 6 inch blue band from top to bottom and it leaves the imprint of the last picture if there were any lines or words on it in the next channels picture. I think the bulb or the lamp just went today as there is no picture and there are two flashing red lights but the blue haze has been there for months. The TV is a 2005 model and I think I have had it for around 3 years it and is on an average of 8-10 hours per day and longer on the weekends so I got a lot of use out of my first bulb! Not so sure I want to replace the bulb if the blue haze is not related to the bulb. I was told might be one of the color jets that is off which might have resulted from the vibrations from the surround sound?

BSA is right, this light engine is a korean/sony hybrid. Sony has been through NUMEROUS class action lawsuits for faulty designs, infact they dropped the rear pro line all together because of it. Save your repair money and buy a new samsung plasma or lcd.

The problem is an expensive one. The blue display has become distorted due to excessive heat overtime. The blue display is closest to the lamp and gets most of the heat. The Light Engine must be replaced by a repair shop to correct the problem.

We have a new bulb for our 50v720 and now there is a yellow tint!

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, yellowish tint, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

I have a spot in the middle of the screen that red shows up as almost black. It looks like the old problems when magnets were put on the old fashioned TV's It is a 50 inch Hitachi Ultravision. I replaced...

That is going to be a failure of the light engine itself. The part number for that is UX25302R. The part is not a user replaceable part due to the complexity to remove and reinstall the new one. Here is a link for the part and to purchase it as it runs 521 dollars. Please take a few moments to rate my answer. Thanks...

Picture issue

No,sad to say it is the end of your TV. Your Light engine"optic block"is bad. Caused by too mich heat.
Not cleaning the vents in the tv,smoking in the house can clog the cooling vents and internal filters.Causing poor air flow for cooling. The spots are from burnt polorised film on the LCD panels. The cost for the new light engine is about $600 + a costly core price. Encompass is down for the moment to get an exact price. But it is high. Time to get a new Flat Screen. And BUY THE WARENTY.!!! They all still have bugs in them. Costly to repair. I do the work for the warenty company for central FL. I repair 9-12 a day.One service call is more than the warenty. Light engine would have been covered. Sorry for the bad news. I have 3 of the 50" and 2 of the 42" in the shop for the same. Sony is the worst for this. Panasonic...
never a problem. Just a lamp once in a while. But the Samsung LCD/ LCD/led backlight is the best for the money.

ZENITH E44W46 LCD HDTV

Its your light engine failing. It can cause different colored "spots or ovals" to appear in the black background.

My Zenith ( now LG ) E44W46 LCD had the engine replaced after only 10 months, and now 3 years later it is failing again. There is a lawsuit against LG for using defective engine assemblies in this particular model.

After much searching I located this number, 800.243.0000 and called from work this past Monday at 8:15 a.m. central time. I was blown away to actually have someone pick up and direct me to a rep who reassured me that LG was aware and has set up a department to handle claims.

I was issued a case number and told that I will be contacted by a rep from this "department" and they would replace the set. With what I don't know yet but I will post back after I get thier final answer and the details.
