TV scans for channels and wont stop.

TV turns on by itself and then starts scanning for channels and I cannot get it to stop. Is this something that is easily fixed?

I've seen a similar problem like this caused by a stuck button either on the set or the remote control. IF one button has no effect then that's the one that's bad. This might also be your problem. If not then something has failed in the system control circuit. Stargazer

Older model Emerson TV won't stop scanning channels

Check and replace its main system control memory IC. It is faulty. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Viewing it in "Mosaic" will make surf easy. Surf the site with patience.

H i have no remote for hannspree tv, tried scanning channels with buttons on the side of tv, dont know what i touched,but now its wont do anything just says scan channels. wont even turn off

Hello

In the CBL/SAT or TV mode, use the FAV key to start a 3-second scan of all

channels.Or, if programmed, use the FAV key to scan only your favorite
channels to view a desired channel

Press CBL/SAT or TV once.

Press FAV once.

• IfFavorite Channel Scan has been set up, scanning of

favorite channels will start with up to 100 channel changes
or until stopped by pressing any key.

IfFavorite Channel Scan has not been set up, scanning

will start with the current channel, and continue up to
100 channel changes or until stopped by pressing any key.

To stop scanning channels at any time, press any key
once.

My Volume and Channel button won't work and so I have bout 2 remotes, neither of them have worked, one is the RCR311BR remote which has been noted to work for this tv. What else can I do

I have a 2000 model RCA P52923 and I had the same problem occur a couple of days ago. The sound hasn't worked for a couple of years, but the TV is connected to an RCA surround sound to resolve that issue. Most recently, while watching TV, it began to start scanning channels by itself. I shut it off and unplugged it for a couple of days, but each time that I turn it on, it begins to immediately start scanning each channel. Neither the remote, nor the channel buttons on the set are able to stop the scanning, and neither of them will perform any functions, including turning the set on and off.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Won't stop scanning for Dtv...just says now scanning

Have Sylvania CR202SL8 TV with same problem. Cannot stop the scan or reset TV. It turns off at 15 minutes as designed when no action or signal.
DId you ever find a solution?

It had been in storage for years. Inititally, on power on it turned off on its own. Let it rest and retried and went in to Menu, I scanned the channels on antenna and worked fine for 15 minutes. Showed Now Scanning for seconds but image came back. Then it went into the Now Scanning screen and got stuck.

It did once get to the menu (don't know if on its own or my trying remote control button combinations) and was able to restart the scan (DTV/TV option, don't have DTV only option)...apparently it scanned digital, but started scanning for on air channels and got stuck on Now Scanning.

My DVD player LG DR165 DVD Recorder is giving me an error.

PROGRESIVE SCAN will only work with an HD TV and it does not work via the scart lead. Select off for it if you have an old TV. If you can't get it to stop coming on by doing what it says to do, then you have an electrical fault on the LG.
PROGRESIVE SCAN itself is a method of getting high quality images on HD TV's via the special sockets at the back of the DVD.

I would like to change the start up channel setting.

if you are using satellite or something that use channel 3 and there are no other channels(cable) do a channel scan from the menu of your tv.if you have an antenna or cable hooked up temporarily unhook it so when you do the scan all it finds is what you have on channel 3.channel scan may also be called autoprogram depending on your tv

Emerson 20 inch flat screen tv problem

i had the same problem with a 32 inch and i kept "clicking" the channel changer on the remote to force the tv to go to another channel (that had previously been selected during the initial auto scan) --- still trying to figure out why the tv locks onto the scanning for channel
