Exact same problem. The picture is perfect for the first 10-15 minutes after being off for 12 or more hours. Once the flashing starts, it won't stop until the tv is off for another 10-12 hours. So, I get 10-15 minutes of quality viewing a day. GREAT BUY!

You need the voltage on the ps board and the ysustain board adjusted. Possibly the z sustain board needs replaced if this doesn't fix.

Samsung LCD TV 46 inch model LN46A550 has bright pink glow where it should be light (sky, lamp, etc)

My guess would be that you have a CCFL lamp that is failing. They will give off a pinkish tint when they are about to fail. But I would encourage you to get a professional diagnoses.

The video output section circuits has the fault. Might be a a video output transistor short. Type {Electro-help} in your search box and enter this site. It has all details.

Flashing screen on Toshiba 42HP66

Plasma sets use high voltage to produce their displays and it sounds very much like the HV supply is losing (or has lost) regulation likely due to the impending failure of a semiconductor.Check to see if Toshiba has any extended warranty on this since it could be a series problem. If there is none, ask for a price on a new or repaired supply on an exchange basis.

900 hours and I am seeing some image retention. How to remove them?

In a few words, you can't.
Panasonic Plasma Screens have a movement option that slowly moves the screen around a few milimetres
I the burning is bad and all you can see is Sky TV's frames or Sport frames, the way to reduce the effect, and this is official, is to turn up the screen brightness on a white background. This will burn the rest of the screen to a similar level!
Unbelievable but having done that for a number of hours, when one increases the brightness to compensate for a burnt screen, it is slightly better.
(I do not advocate that, I would not let it burn in the first place.)

Good luck
Hope that helps.

I have the same issue. Bought the TV 1/08 and it started showing those exact symptoms about 3-4 months ago. It generally progresses and gets worse. You can try to fix it as it's some kind of TAB connector issue, or keep calling Sony so that the 52" owners of the XBR4 and 5 series get the extended warranty just like the 46" owners received for the same series. If enough of us keep calling, they'll have to act.

Bravia & Sky+HD, aspect problem

There is nothing wrong with you Sony Bravia TV and it suppport all HD and SD formats.

Are you viewing the HD version of the channel when it is showing a standard defination show. e.g SKY1 HD instead of SKY1.

This means that regular standard defination shows are in a 4:3 ratio and does not fill the whole screen. In order to view these type of shows you will need to tune to regular channel instead of the HD version.

You can check if a show is brocast in HD by going into the tv guide and checking for the HD symbol in the programme symposis.

This is no solution but a point in a probable direction.

A tech guy told me ALL the LCDs they have seen in their repair shop have "swollen" capacitors, this is due to voltage instability. Lowering the internal voltage regulator and replacing the swollen capacitors (which eliminate noise) apparently restores the LCD to new working quality. Without actually "seeing" my problem the tech said that should repair it. I have not tried this yet but eventually will begin that way.
