Hi, my HP Photosmart C4280 All-in-one was working great for about a week. All of a suddent hough, it just gives me error messages and refuses to print. (that's what happens when you leave your printer with your parents for awhile...) Now in the printer and faxes menu, a copy of my printer has appeared. This printer can print, but the original printer icon remains my default and will not print. It is still online. I have run through troubleshoot (printing test pages, making sure online, determining port, etc.), but it's not really helpful because the copy printer icon works perfectly. Is this normal? Should I just change the default to the copy printer? I've never had this happen with any other printer before, so I wasn't sure. Also, in case it matters, I am using Windows XP Teacher Edition Thanks!!
Sir try uninstalling the whole old printer program on the add/remove icon on the control panel... then reinstall the software again... this is because in the process of installing the printer the software is scanning the installed printer... is not because you have the same unit as before they are one same unit... i mean they still differ on parts model and serial numbers so the OS still need to recognize the new printer installed...
hope this helps...
