Maytag Neptune front loader door latch won't release

I have a Maytage MAH4000AWW and the door latch remains locked (with door lock indicator light "on") after cycle has completed. I have tried restarting the cycle and allowing it to complete as well as unplugging the machine. Maytag support told me to remove the soap-fill compartment, pull on a red or green wire, then call repair. Are the next steps something I can do myself? How do I diagnose whether it's the latch that's failed or the control panel?

Rewpa, 98% chance the door latch has stuck in the locked position. Yes, follow Maytags suggestion to access the "rip cord" for the door latch... (this is the mechanical override for it) to get the door open. After it's open, run another load of wash and see if it happens again. If it does, it is the door latch assy. that's the problem. BTW, the door lock light is activated by a switch in the door latch assy. There's a "motor" in the assy... it's made of WAX! Yes, a "wax motor". Before the computer goes into spin, it sends 120V to this motor. The electricity heats the wax and it expands. As it expands, it pushes a plunger forward. This plunger trips both the door lock AND the switch. This sends the signal to the door light AND the computer saying "I'm locked! Go ahead and Spin!" When the cycle is complete, the computer drops the voltage to the wax motor. The wax cools off and contracts. This retracts the plunger... opening the door and shutting off the light. So... if this light stays on, the plunger is still extended and can be overridden using the rip cord. If this happens again, let me know and I'll step you through disassembly and replacement of the wax motor.

I have the same problem. Where can you buy a wax motor? Please send step- by-step instructions and how to disassemble and replace

Neptune front loader. doorlock light quit working. wont spin.

You will need to change the machine control board and door lock wax motor.
MAH3000AWW PART # 'S 22002988 AND 12002535
MAH4000AWW PART# 'S 22002989 AND 12002535
If yo look at your control board in the control panel you will find R11 burned.

Neptune Washing Machine (MLE200AWW) spins but water is not pumped all the way out. I can hear it slosh in the drum if I spin the drum manually.

Hi, the sloshing sound is normal because of the balance ring which has liquid in it...

I would be concerned about your door latch wax motor ( part # 12002535) though... See Neptune Help for more information about replacing the faulty wax motor with brown colored actuator tip before it damages your machine control board. When the wax motor shorts out it will blow the Q6 triac and then the R11 resistor will burn and your door probably won't lock anymore as indicated by the door locked light not coming on. The next thing you will notice is that your clothes will be soaking wet after the wash cycle because the spin cycle will not work if the door does not lock...

Your machine control board is located above the dryer on the right side.

Every Maytag Neptune front loader with a timer knob (non digital) has a wax motor and all of them shipped with faulty one except the later 2000 series stacker models. You should proactively replace the wax motor with the new design (with black tip) to prevent the Q6 R11 failure on the control board. If you're too late you can try the STAGE 1 repair kit at the same site above.

To inspect your door latch wax motor on the stackers you:

? Unplug machine

? Remove the (2) screws holding center panel and remove panel

? Remove the (1) center screw holding the top panel located inside compartment above washer

? Remove the top panel to expose the door latch assembly

I hope this helps you.
