Question about Whirlpool GGW9200L Gas Dryer

2 Answers

MODEL: GEW9200LQ0 Electric Dryer

My dryer turns and operates but it doesn't get hot. Is there a part I can purchase and simply replace myself or do I need to pay $65. for a repair guy to come out to my house and tell me what the problem is and pay even more to have him fix the heating problem? I purchased my dryer in 3/2004 and used it for a year... it's been in storage ever since and I just now moved it back into my home to use it again. HELP???!! Please. JULIE

Thanks for you response :-) Actually I knew I the dryer wasn't getting hot before I moved it out of my last home (before putting it in storage)- I didn't worry about getting it fixed until just now since it's out of storage and in my new home. I haven't even tried to turn it on as of yet- figured I'd fix the "heating" problem before trying. I'm willing to check if you have the time :-) THANKS KRAZYTEC

Frigidare dryer aeq6000es2 doesn't spin, humming noise, burning smell

Hello tancrbtt - It sounds like your unit may have one or more problems. Either the belt slipped off the idle pulley and/or dryer belt and needs replacing, a faulty motor or a common failure between control and motor. Consult a professional to accurately diagnosis the dryer and to assist with the repairs.

I have a Majic Chef stove. I was cleaning it by hand and removed the bottom heating element by unscrewing the 2 screws inside the stove. I pulled it towards me and it was coming out but then blew sparks...

The first thing you want to do is check the breaker outside by the electric meter, actually turn it off and turn it back on, Then if that doesn't work call a tech. Anything you buy these days only last about 3 years

My dryer doesn't heat up any more, I would like to repair it by myself. Where do I find the replacement part on the dryer

Bosch sells parts online. The parts arrive at your home in about 2 business days after you place your order.

My dryer makes a noise when turned on but doesn't start to spin / dry? Any ideas?

I think your belt is broken. Typically, a drier's top will pop off if you pry on it with a flat blade screw driver. If that happens, you can remove the front panel and set it aside to view the drum and the drive belt, motor assembly.

Of course you want to try to not mar the finish of the machine. Replacing the belt is simple to say but requires three hands. My suggestion is speak with the service department at the place you purchased your machine. They may offer additional advice for free. I am sure they can repair it simply and will allow you to observe so you can do it next time.

Thanks for using fixYa.com. I hope this suggestiopn helps you to make a decision.

My dryer wont turn on but the inside does get hot what could be the problem

if the inside is getting hot, by not turning on I'm guessing you mean not spinning, you need to check the belt if this is the case, also, be sure the door safety switch is working, you can check that by simply jumping the 2 wires together, if it runs then, replace that switch, but I would check the belt first if you need any help with that feel free to reply

I have a Maytag dryer that was purchased in 2006. It is making a squeaking noise. One year after we bought it, we had to pay a repair person $153 for a new belt and new pulley motor. It is model mav2755aww...

You can simply repair it yourself with using the proper tools and get the parts at any Sears store
The belt & pulley are sold in a kit for under $35

My dryer will only stay warm for a brief time and then simply runs with cool air.

Those gas operating coils will get hot and quit and cool down and work some more. Intermittant little suckers. Some Repair Pix

Hello.
vegetarianGA
You said,

When I purchased my house 2 years ago, the sellers left the washer and dryer for me. They informed me of a problem with the dryer's start button not wanting to stay pressed in. They said their solutions was to use something to keep it pressed in and so I started using shipping tape for this purpose. Last night it finally stopped working - something behind the button is obviously broken (the switch). While looking for a replacement switch and an on-line service manual, I came across this site. I did order the part from Sears today and will attempt to repair the problem myself. If I cannot, I will buy a new dryer before I pay a tech $60+ to repair a 6 year-old dryer.
I did not have the model number when I called Sears but did have another number off the back of the dryer which was for the "panel control" and the number is 3979018. The sales rep did some cross-referencing and said I own model #11072932100. I was wondering if you can direct me to an on-line service manual so I will know how to replace the switch when it arrives.

Here our sponsor's site to fine what you asked me for, a service manual!
