Being a 21" CRT monitor (old tube type) it is going to be cheaper to buy a new LCD flat screen than to fix this one. Best bet if you do want to fix this, is to take it to a tv repair shop and let them work on it. You have not given enough information to give a good educated response to what might be causing this issue. Good luck.

Samsung lcd monitor b2030 power on problem

Samsung lcd monitor b2030
is the power LED actually dead?
is the screen 100% dead
is he front menu OSD button dead.
if yes, yes, yes, then the monitor is DEAD. of AC power is ok.

learn this fact all monitors before magic year 2010
are dead, due to CCFL back lamps burned out.

and will cost 2 times new, to fix it.
your manual shows year 2009
if it try to buy screen it shows me , the main board has 2 highvoltage CCFL lamp jacks.
so CCFL are dead. most are, most died in the year 2014
if run every day for 5 years, they GO DEAD.
or less if run 20 hrs /day.
if parked on shelf for 10 years, it works. see? 20,000 hours life spans.
best is to buy a 2011 and up monitor cheap even used.
with LED back lamps. and enjoy a long lived monitor.

CCFL jacks right side ! back lamps that love to die.

My Acer LED monitor is black unresponsive and has an unchanging purple power button. What is causing this and how can I fix it?

no PC stated,
and what does this mean.
"showed nothing."
2nd monitor ,did it work on not? please be clear.
I guess you mean the 2nd monitor works on this unstated PC.
but not the 246 ,as it is dead. or shows odd things? no photos off odd presented,
246, is 6 years old today.

ok , PC dead, but is it silent, it must blow 2 fans desktop.
ok, does the GN246HL fail on other PCs.
if not it is good.
if yes,it is bad, simple no?
all test monitor directly to a PC, DVI jack.
this monitor is only 6 years, old and is LED backlighted

what does this mean?
Dual Link DV-I.??????????
this monitor has only one DVI port (and vga , and HDMI)

now test 1.
NO pC connected
power on the monitor,
it shows LOGO sign , ACER logo message seen for 6 long years but today is dead.
Now turn it on again and push menu button, on monitor.
you get OSD screen windows, from the monitor brain and it works
and looks good , but only for 10 seconds at power on.
the 10 second rule on OSD, means you must do that fast.

the controls are in the manual

Monitor turns on then goes off

Hi stella,
old monitor. 2007 CCFL , most are dead NOW !
if the PC (not told) fails he monitor shows and error. "no signal" or no connection then warns you going to sleep or to power saver mode.
all do that, at PC Deathh. (VGA or DVI dead at PC out)
the PC and the monitor have power lights that go dead or change color or blink and all that matters first. did they fail? 1 or both.
if LCD dims or dies dead, the and PC fans heard to spin and all power LED show normal actions.
he CCFL tubes are dead ,as all did long agol
seems to me your ran for 7 years, and at 20,000 hours the tubes CCFL black lamps are dead. or dim or intermittent
some work only in a warm room, not cold
page 54 (means CCFL tubes dead)
Agency Regulatory Notices
C-2User's Guide
Materials Disposal
This HP product contains mercury in the fluorescent lamp in the display LCD (CCFL)

7 years is a good run
now buy new LCD with LED, 2011 and newer,
2010 is change over year, toss coin,or avoid them. and all older are no good.

so mon fails on 1 more good PCs'"
2007 made I guess. so also 10 years on CCFL tubes most are dead. 20k hours but does not make LED power button dead.

power on LED dead, means blown up PSU board inside .
the 3.3vdc is dead to the panel board and the 3 color front LED pins.
(assumes button switch (on) not dead.
i found the manual leaked
lucky you.

Find technicaiy solution

That means your monitor has faulty or dead capacitors. The capacitors in your monitor work to hold down power from the source long enough for proper display on the screen. Bulged or leaking capacitors will only hold power for about 2 - 8 seconds and the looses it. The only solution is to replace those fault capacitors with new ones. Get a computer technician to open up the monitor and change the capacitors. That is the only technical problem you asked to know. Good luck

WE SPEAK ENGLISH HEAR (WE TRY)
YOU SAid.
As soon as it is turned on, it lights up for a second, but if left on for more than 15 minutes, turning it off and on again it lights up normally. I noticed that it is the lamps that do not turn on, but with the monitor left on it seems that the lamps, even if turned off, "warm up" so turning off and on it works correctly.
all monitors this old are dead now due to the use of CCFL backlamps at 20k yours it hits the EOL cliff of Deathh.
a 2005 monitor made
and ran for 12 years, a super amazing long run and now the ccfl back ground tubes are dead. (the go intermittent hot or cold too)

buy newer 2012 monitor marked LED and be happy
CCFL are junk now. pure.

Doesn't respond

Compaq MV 540 (old dog monitors) DEAD 100% DEAD.
OSD dead too. it seems.
built in year 2000, its 17 years old, and you fix things that old
why> why do that, used LCD can be had for 20 bucks.
why slave over any relic CRT like this,,, for a musiem??
using the VGA cable
the monitor will go to sleep, lacking any PC sync lines Vert/horz
by design per VESA rules on that !
step one , use a PC.
set the PC up to do the max resolution on the CRT
some PC cant do that, (new PC)
im reading your users guide now, 1sec, google , hit.
first force the PC to 1024x768 resolution and 60 vert. refresh max.
now the CRT can work an not any of above number higher .
see? use working monitor to do that FIRST.

now plug in the vga, cable last. on the monitor under test.

power led means
green = power ok
amber or yellow are sleep or standby.
so that means, there is no sync.
or if the OSD works (does it>) turn the silly sleep timer off in the monitor. via OSD .

the operators guide, tells you to go to PC safe mode.
this mode sets reso real low. 800x600 and all monitors work there.
no sleep timer inside monitor i can find.,

lots of ways for any CRT to fail even the CRT itself
(loss of sweep)
loss of cathode video drive
the VGA card inside, can fail. killing dead all cathod drive.
the power supplies or regs inside can fail.
the HV can fail. 10,000 volts (dont touch it if long life is good)
some survive, or fly back hit head on wall and crush skull,
seen it and done it so,,, there you go.(ripped gash in arm once)
the 2nd anode is very high voltage, avoid it, and win,.
respect it.
