Question about LG 42LC2D 42 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

LD 37LC7D I bought this tv 2 weeks ago and had it hung on the wall and powered it up. At this point, before having Directv hooked up, the unit would stay on power standby (red light on when unit not on) and start up easily when I hit the remote or unit's "power" button. Now, since having Directv hook up, the unit will power up intially, but once shut off for more then ten minutes or so, the standby (red light) power isn't on and I can't get the tv to turn on. If I unplug it for awhile - 30 minutes or more - it comes back on. I've read the manual 10 times over and can't seem to figure out a solution...HELP!

This set has a modification that needs to be done. It will also start turning on by itself and changing channels rapidly. It's two weeks old. Take it back to the Retailer or if that is not an option contact LG at 1-800-243-0000 to get a local servicer in your area.

Medion lcd hd 31.5 inch tv won't turn on

I bought one also from ALDI for my son's Xbox 360, it is only 3 weeks in use and I have the same problem. The red led is on, indicating that it is in standby mode and recieving power but I can't turn it on either by pressing the power on button on the TV it's self or the on button on the remote. This started happening a few days ago and it's totally random. I found that if you unplug the TV from the power point or alternatively switch off the power point for a minute, than power it on again it will "WORK AGAIN" for a while. Like I said it is random, eventually it will return to the not being able to be switched on state at which time you will have to repeat the process. So thus, this is not really a solution. I am about to return the TV for a refund, and it's a shame because otherwise it's not too bad. and looks OK too.

I just had directv hooked up, I have a dvr receiver, I was told I did not have enough hook ups on the back of my tv, so therefore, I went and bought a switch or combiner. Now, how do I need to run the...

Newer directv hd receivers must connect to the av input (yellow, red, white) connections on the back/front/side of your tv. If your tv only has one of these av inputs then you will need an RF modulator for your dvd player. You will connect the (yellow, red, white) connections from the dvd player to the rf modulator and then connect the tv out on the rf modulator to the tv rf jack ( the silver threaded barrel on the back of the tv) Tune your tv to channel 3 to watch a dvd and then back to the av input channel for the directv receiver.

R10 receiver

one wire should be going out the wall or through the wall, that wire goes to (sat in) port. If your other wire goes to the tv, that one goes to the (out to tv) port.

Loss of channels

If you mean "losing" as in you could no longer tune to those channels because they disappeared out of the channel list entirely, then it's likely a software problem.  If you haven't already, try resetting your DVR to factory settings (since this unit is TiVo powered, it should be under the main menu, Messages and Settings, then Restart or Reset system; follow the on-screen instructions to reset the system).

If you mean "losing" as in you can tune to the channel but there's no signal, then that sounds like a tuner problem to me.  If the box is still under warranty or you lease it, have it repaired or replaced.  If you bought the box and the warranty is up, it looks like you might have to get a new one, or pay for the repair out of pocket.

You might also try calling back to DirecTV tech support and asking to be escalated or to speak with a supervisor; especially if it's a box you're leasing from them, since it is definitely *their* problem in that case.

Not able to scan stations

I don't understand why you would bother to scan channel when you have directv or dishnetwork???
directv or Dishnetwork required their units in order to watch any channel, which means:
A. Depending on your TV setting,if you use RF connection from your basic directv to the tv,you would have to leave the TV on Ch.3 or Ch.4.to view the rest of the channels, you have to change it from the directv or dishnetwork box. You are NOT able to scan the rest of the channels from the TV,bottom line!!
If you have comcast or your local cable provider, once you have activated, you could use the RF signal coming out from the wall plate straight to the tv and go to TV auto programming,it will auto scan the available channels for you.
Don't waste your time on directv.
If you are thinking about recording from your BASIC directv or dishnetwork box, you would connect SAT. signal from the wall plate to the directv box, then use composite video/audio output and connect straight to your VCR/DVD player under composite video/audio input. Now you could record the viewing channel to the VHS.
Good luck!
