Question about Cavalry Storage Cavalry CAUO37500 500GB OneTouch Ext USB 500 GB USB 2.0 Hard Drive
SOURCE: CAUM37500 CAVALRY HARD DRIVE NOT GETTING DETECTED
head crashed is the most likely reason.
drive has lost its directory and boot segment address.
you have lost your drive functionality.
the drive would need to be much larger than average to bother fixing, but if you need the data, then you can send it in for repair. expect 500 to 2500 for data recovery/repair.
sorry for the news.

SOURCE: computer does not recognize new 1TB ext HD
First I had to reseat one of the drives which had worked loose and become unseated during shipping. Then I had to format the hard drive and finally I had a 1TB external hard drive I could use. The light is still red.

SOURCE: Maxtor Basics 1Tb external hard drive not working
option 01. try the unit on another windows pc. if its the same. i am afraid you might have an issue with the device.
option 2 . you could remover the **** from the enclosure & fix it directly to the pc so that you can retrive the data. however this will have an impact on your warranty

SOURCE: Data Recovery from Seagate Desktop Expansion 500GB External Hard
This is a solution I have used in the past and it has worked. It's a Seagate Recover utility for end users.

If the data is absolutley critical and very valuable, you can send it to Seagate and they are very good at recovery as well. It gets a little pricey at $800, but I too have had to use that as well for mission critical data I could not afford to lose.
