Question about Toshiba 65HM167 65" Projection Television

1 Answer

My Toshiba 65HM167 orignal bulb went out after 19 months of use.The inside of the bulb exploded.I replaced with an aftermarket bulb. The tv came on for about 10 minutes and the new bulb also exploded on the inside.I checked the cooling fans and both are on and blowing. The sound was still playing but no picture. Then the system restarted about 8 times and now the a yellow led stays lit and a red led flashes. The book says this means the bulb is out.....DUH! My question: Do I only have a bulb problem and the replacement bulb I received is defective?....or do I have a problem that is causing my bulbs to explode? Thanks for any help.

I have the same problem. This is the second bulb in 6 months. The first one lasted 13 months. The bulb explodes inside and makes a loud snap noise, like an arc. The repair guy said it was the ballast along with the bulb. Good luck

Lamp burning out every 2-3 months. Fan is okay

Hi anna,
Make sure you have plenty of clearance between the tv and the wall...if not it will keep sucking in the heated air and cause the bulbs to blow.

Unfortunately lamps go bad without the visible state of being bad. I don't know who or where you bought the lamp from but I order all my lamps through dlplamps.com
The clicking sound you hear is the lamp inverter igniteing the lamp but the lamp is bad.

There was a slight squealing and then a loud pop and now no picture. We have sound but no picture. Toshiba 65" rear projection set.

Sound like the color wheel exploded. When this happens the tv will not let it turn on, now for the real bad news,,,, Toshiba does not supply just the color wheel, you will have to replace the entire light engine for around $450.00 to $650.00

I have a toshiba 65hm167 no red color on the screen

Your TV is a DLP one lamp does it all, not like the old projection TVs with the Red, Green & Blue CRTs. Your TV may have a bad light engine or lose cable connections.

Good luck

2005 Chev 2500 HD -- Rear passenger brake light is out. I replaced once with new light and it went out again. All other lights are working. Anyone else have this problem?

Was the replacement bulb purchased an orignal equipment manufacturer from a Chevy dealer or a parts store.
Some aftermarket bulbs do not meet OEM standards and can cause this type of problem. A good parts store will carry OEM replacement bulbs.
If it is the correct OEM bulb, we can go from there.
Let me know.
