I've had my sansa e250 for about a year now and just about a month or 2 ago my sansa e250 starting not working what i mean is the computer won't even recognize it. it loads half way and then stops at the same place every time. I've done the holding the power button down for 15 secs or longer and i've even taken the battery out and put it back in and still nothing. I'm also running on linux os if that makes a difference.

hi!we have read your problem..since you said there are possibilities for viruses in your device you may format it completely first.secondly upgrade your device using the software provided in the cd which came up with your device.next use an original antivirus software , clean up your PC, and try again..hope your problem will be tackled.have a nice day.
There are two connection settings in USB: MTP and MSC. For some reason MTP is the default, but it doesn't connect properly on all computers. Select MSC and plug the player in again, the computer will recognize sansa e250 but not show the driver just yet. It is installing recognition software (just basic drivers - nothing heavy) and it doesnt tell you what its doing until its complete. WAIT FOR IT. Once it is complete you will see both the sansa e250 and the removable memory slot in your "my computer" now you're good to go.
Here's the deal with WMA files - once your subscription expires (or really, the license on the WMA file expires) - you will have to renew your music service subscription or the song will no longer play on your device.
Use Mp3 format songs - they'll never give you this problem.
