Hello,
I am hoping someone can provide some assistance. I have a SONY TRV22E and it will play back videos but when I set it to Camera mode to do filming - The LCD is all Black and I cant see through the eye sight too. I have all the menu functions but not cant see what I am aiming my camera at (and yes I do have the lens cap off :-))
If you can provide any assistance it would be greatly appreciated

Thanks for your help, I am able to take my camera to a service centre and they will assess and if CCD chip is found faulty they will fix this for free.
You have saved me $1000!! thanks again
Hi,
I called Sony support center in Sweden (my home country). They told me that it's probably a failure in CCD-ship. In such a case, Sony takes the fully responsibility and will repair it without any fee. You only need to pay for one way mail transport.

iFixitMay 4, 2015 - When I look through the viewfinder or at the lcd it is blank / black. Also when I take a picture and view it on my computer, the picture is blank ...
Dec 8, 2015 - There is no picture or a black screen appears in the viewfinder or LCDwhen attempting to ... Look to see if an image can be seen in the viewfinder or LCD. IMPORTANT: Some camcorders have both a viewfinder and LCD.
Inside the door hinge area is a small switch that normally would turn off the viewfinder and turn on the LCD panel. THat switch could be defective or mechanically not being switched. WIthout opening up the unit, I can not tell specifically. This shouldbe a simple repair for any shop that repairs cameras.
This camera and several like it have had problems with the CCD imager failing which causes this symptom. Please follow this link and send your camera in to the Sony Laredo facility for a free, one time repair.
Sony is well aware of this issue.
first check the iris of the camera if it is opening, you will see this when you look inside the lens of the camera when you turn on and off the switch at camera mode if the iris is opening....if the iris is ok the second problem may occurs of your camera is the ccd image sensor...
