I don't understand what you mean by "Unlock" the USB? I presume you perhaps mean how can you "Use" it? The USB Port. What needs to done in this case, is to Install the "Driver" that will allow the "System" to "See" the USB Device.. When you plug the Device into the PC, with ya USB lead, the PC should "See" it, beep twice, and if it hasn't been installed B4, will, if it cannot find any "Generic Drivers", then, "Ask" for "Drivers". (These may be on CD etc.) When windows has installed the USB "Drivers" your device will be ready to be used. Some Modems have Both an Ethernet connection & a USB one too... this allows two (2) ways to connect it to your "System" OR two (2) ways to be connected to the modem for two (2) PC's simultaneously. The Ethernet one generally has the address 192.168.0.*. Whereas the USB one is generally 10.0.0.*,or 10.1.1.* You can also "Bridge" these two together.

Why do my Ethernet and Internet light keep blinking?

Some routers blink to show there is ACTIVITY on the ethernet and internet ports, For example you broadband modem is connected to a port on hte back of your router this has a light it would blink on some routers to show activity, and likewise with the ethernet side.

If you have internet access and have zero issues this is NORMAL.

I need to get port forwarding info from a retired netopia 4541 adsl router. does it have a web interface or do I need to use telnet?

Telent is usually not an option these modems but will depend on the service provider if this feature was set up. Plug in and connect a PC to the LAN side of the modem. Refresh the network connection on the PC you connected to get the IP address from the modem. Once this is completed, open a web browser up. In the address enter http://192.168.100.1 and this should take you to the modem's management page as this is what most DSL modems use. Make sure to have your old user name and password as most modems will prompt for this.

Setting up linksys adsl2 modem

The ADSL, Ethernet, and USB ports are located at the back of a Linksys modem. These ports are where the phone cable and computer will be connected. The ADSL Line should be connected to the ADSL port and the computer either be connected to Ethernet or the USB port., If u r using a ethernet cable no need to run the setup cd just connect the ethernet cable and contact ur isp..
do not worry about ur sagem modem, let it be inside.. just connect ethernet cables alone..

To setup a Linksys ADSL Modem with usb cable you need to perform two steps:
  1. Connecting the Devices Together
  2. Installing the USB Driver
Connecting the Devices Together
Step 1:
Connect the phone cable to the wall jack with ADSL service and then connect the other end to the ADSL port of the modem.
Step 2:
Make sure the power adapter is plugged to an available power outlet.
Step 3:
Connect the USB to the USB port on the back of the modem and then connect the other end top the USB port of the computer.
Step 4:
Power on the modem. After connecting the device together, install the USB driver. For instructions, follow the steps below.
Installing the USB Driver
Step 1:
Power on the computer.
Step 2:
When the Hardware Update Wizard window appears. Click Install the software automatically (Recommended).
NOTE: Windows XP has pre-installed drivers for the ADSL2MUE and will automatically install the USB driver for the modem.
Step 3:
Click Finish.
