On my 10-year-old model, the two screws securing the cover are under the two llight bulbs. Pry off the clear plastic covers, take out the bulbs and screws, and the cover lifts off.
remove the lens covers, bulbs and the foil. under the foil are two screws. remove the screws and the cover lifts off. the motor for the belt is held in with one screw.
remove the covers over the headlights and under the shiny foul. there are two screws. there are two tabs that hold down the cover over the wheels, they just pop on/off with a click.
on my xt. i had to remove the rolling brush and clean out all the hair that was stuck in the bearings. remove the screw holding down the motor and belt. pry out the roller brush to get to the bearings. there was some serious hair ball in there.
reassembled mine and it works perfectly now :)
The only sure way recommended (and probably the safest) would beto get a service manual or at least a schematic diagram. The FantomCyclone XT was originally manufactured by Fantom Technologies, Inc.that closed in October 2001. The replacement for a Fantom Cyclone XTwould be Westinghouse Wired Deluxe Edition (either a WST1550 or a WST1551). These replacement products are now handled by Salton Inc. Perhaps you may inquire from them:
http://www.geeksquad.fixya.com/ThreadView.aspx?prdid=0&thid=558003 Generic problem for all Vacuums I want to download a Posted by dotbeeman on Apr 29, 2008 I want to download a manual for Fantom Cyclone XT Hello, I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The best way is to go the Fantom website that I will include @ the bottom of this response and to see if the website will allow you to download the owner’s manual, or you can call the Fantom Factory / Manufacturer and they will most of the time send you out an owner’s manual to the cust or @ least make copies and mail them to you. You also can check with your local vac dealer. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions. http://www.fantom.com/fantom/default.aspx Customer Service – 1-800-798-7395 For technical support, please call us toll-free at 1-800-798-7398.
