According to Canon, the CanoScan N650u/N656U is not compatible with Windows Vista. They have not released a compatible driver. You could attempt to use a different driver, but that causes the system to become unstable and crash often, if it works at all. I recommend upgrading to a Vista-compatible scanner.
To use it with Windows Vista, you must install the driver software for Windows Vista.
The Windows XP drivers for your product cannot be used under Windows Vista.
Easy-WebPrint and PhotoRecord do not support Windows Vista.
Upgrading from Windows XP to Windows Vista :
Before
upgrading your OS from Windows XP to Windows Vista, delete / uninstall
all the Windows XP driver software first; then, upgrade the OS to
Windows Vista and install Vista driver software. If you have already upgraded your computer's OS to Windows Vista :
Delete / uninstall the Windows XP drivers before installing Vista drivers.
Honestly, the only option is if the printer manufacturer develops a drivers that works with vista. or You can try install the generic drivers for the scanner see if that will work. Better consult with the manufacturer of the scanner for compatible drivers for vista
the drivers that you may currently have in your newly upgraded computer is for windows XP, you will have to download and install the printer that you have using a Vista Compatible driver.
I have an Epson Stylus Rhoto R220 inkjet printer for 10 months and i would like to know if its going to work with Vista Windows PC or it won't recognize my printer. How do I upgrade it or get it compatible ?Thaks
With the Computer. Go to Start/programs/accessories/system Tools/Compatibility and attempt to reset the computer to the Windows mode the Scanner was made for.
Be aware however that Scanners made for use with Win 95/98/ME operate under DOS commands and 2000/XP/Vista work on the NTFS system so there is a hardware not software problem. You will I feel wind up buying a Vista Compatible Scanner
