Connect laptop to tv

Hi there
There are some things that may be causing problems:

Make sure the output from the laptop matches the input capabilities of the TV eg 1080p HD or whatever.
Make sure that the TV is set to read from that particular HDMI port.
Make sure that the laptop HDMI port is activated - this is not always the default.

I hook up a HDMI cable to my tv to ps3 and the audio sound is horrible. What do I do to fix this?

Hello... This is most problem due to the cables or your audio output settings. Ok, firstly try checking the cable's are in properly and no dust has built up. Then at the main menu, go to settings. Scroll down until you get to sound settings, choose audio output settings then HD-MI then auto. If that doesn't fix the problem, choose manual and select the most basic output. Do you get HD quality by outputing to TV using

no ,but you will have a dvd quality picture. HD means
the picture size format usely 16:9, HDMI its a Hd
multimedia interface its HD quality to...

How can I hook my 754n to my TV [s-video or HDMI capable]. This PC has no TV out, not sure about VGA.

Desktops are not nearly as problematic as laptops in this area, so you are in luck.

Depending on your video card, and if you don't have an up to date card, it would pay you in the quality of your video output to obtain one, there should be outputs on the card.

There would be no TV out (composite video) unless you have either a tuner card or a high quality maxed memory card.

Rather than recommending a specific card, which depends upon your particular configuration of clock speed of your cpu and how much memory you want to share with your video, I will recommend a class of cards that might help you, and a particular manufacturer or two.

The ATI cards have been superseded in my esteem by Radeon, though either is a good bet.

One card that will do you good is the Radeon HD 3870 with a half a Gig of DDR2 memory, so that your system memory doesn't have to do the whole graphics job. PCI Express 2.0 and the AGP version has DVI and TV out, and has Dual Lin Dual DVI HDTV connectivity HDMi support along with VGA and Blu-Ray and HD DVD support and just happens to be the cheapest of the cards, currently listed in Tiger Direct's catalog [LCB] for only 49.95

This particular television puts you in a tough bind - you can use Component cables in AV1, but you won't be able to get HD. Or you can use the Component cables in the right-most component slot, but since your HD Receiver probably doesn't have V/H Sync connectors, you may get a rolling picture. Try the component cables in the right-most slot (I'm assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that your actual model # is not really a 50P8341, which has no V/H Sync slot).

Try the component cables in the right-most slot - if the picture doesn't roll, you're in business.

Once again, I doubt that your model # is a 60pp9202, since that model doesn't have a VGA or DVI slot. If the picture rolls after trying the above, you will need to purchase a HDMI-to-DVI-D cable and hook it up from the HDMI output of your HD receiver to the DVI slot (that looks like a VGA slot) on the back of your Philips or Magnavox.

1st time using component video connections on my onkyo

Yes, switch to the video input that you are trying to configure (i.e. video 1-4). Press the menu button on the receiver or the remote and cycle to video settings. There should be a setting that says "video output" or "output" - set that to component. You may also have to configure the Input for that particular setting. For instance, if you have an HD tivo going into component 2 but you want it to be Video 1. Select Video 1, hit the menu button and scroll to video setup. Select video input setup and cycle it to component 2. Next, use the menu to cycle to video setup, select video output, switch to component. This should solve your problem. As a sidenote, you may also have to configure the audio in/out if you're using digital coax or optical. Let me know if this works.

Hi Brien,

You can hook-up your HDTV via the BNC inputs with the right equipment below.
Here is the link to a website that sells video transcoders for projectors and projection televisions. In addition, the link will take you to one particular transcoder that will work for your application.
http://www.curtpalme.com/RTC2200.shtm If you use this transcoder you will have to find a VGA to 5-BNC breakout cable to connect the output of the transcoder to your TV HDTV RGBHV inputs. The extra VGA input on this transcoder will not be used for your application. They sell another product that comes with the cable you need, but I did not see it listed separately.
