To do this properly I would suggest highly that you take it to a service center. The reason is this: In order to adequatley clean the unit so that a)no damage occurs and b)the unit is fully clean and operational, you need to take it apart. The safest way to clean an electronic device is to disconnect the part being cleaned from any of the neighboring components and electric signal as well. If you want to go this alone, get an area setup that's approximately 3 square feet in size and is flat and dry (table with newspapers, etc) Get a container to house your screws, etc. that you may need to remove in order to provide access to the soiled components. If you feel comfortable removing the cover and cowling then you can do that, although being a portable player it's most likely fully exposed when you open the lid for the drive. As far as cleaners go, you can use a paper towel and a mild solvent. (such as a diluted bottle of dish soap) Avoid harsh or dry solvents such as rubbing alcohol as they can corrode, discolor and damage the optics. I'd recommend that you use q-tips in order to clean the drive and optics area but again this entire procedure isn't something I'd suggest to a novice if you happen to be. As well even if you open the drive lid, there's a great chance the spill worked it's way down past what you can see and into the main compartment. That's another reason why it should be disassembled. If you know anyone who is mildly familiar with electronics they can do this for you. It's about a 3 or 4 on a 1-10 scale (10 hardest) of difficulty. It shouldn't take more than 30-40minutes to properly perform. Hope that helps.
