You can try to turn the contrast down by pressing 2nd and then hold "down" If the screen does not fix, put new batteries in (including the back up batteries). The problem will be resolved. Hope this helps...

I changed my batteries - including the back up one - it did fix the issue for that time. Next time i used the calculator - the screen is back to black.
Any other suggestions?

Ti-83 won't turn on

TI calculators have an annoying habit of dimming the screen when the batteries are changed so that it appears as if the calculator isn't turning on. Turn the calculator on (or at least press the ON key). Press and release the 2ND key. Press and hold the Up-arrow key for a few seconds and see whether the screen becomes legible.

If the screen remains blank then please respond to this post and we'll go from there.

Screen obstruction TI-83 Plus Graphing Calculator

Hello,
The liquid crystal is damaged. I suppose the screen can be replaced. Check with Texas Instruments resellers (usually academic bookstores): they may be able to tell you where you can have the calculator serviced.

You can post an ad on the college bulletin board

OK for batteries to be dead
But calculator must be alive.

Hope it helps.
