No, you cannot disconnect the power switch. A defective power switch will not make the set turn on and off by itself, because the power relay is actually controlled by the microprocessor. The microprocessor in your set is trying to start the set but immediately detects a fault somewhere and shuts the set back off. This can be a difficult problem to solve and the set should be serviced by a qualified tech.

The remote needs to work if the vehicle originally came with the remote from the factory. It gives off a signal to the ring around the ignition switch to deactivate the alarm.

Tuning

I assume model number here is correct--if set is scanning either just up or just down in channels that is an issue with the related button on the set itself.

I am going to take the time to explain here as I want to help you.

Let us say for example when turned on set scans UP constantly thru the channels and will not stop. Remote seems not to work and has no effect on this.

What you have in this case (if scanning down different button) is the up channel button on the set is BAD. It may look perfect but it is the cause of this (trust 30 years of TV repair here).

Each button on the set itself has a tiny micro switch than when the button is pressed acts to perform that feature and when released stops.

Keyboard (the button array) has priority over the remote--hence the remote cannot stop this action.

The tiny switches fail in exactly this way--instead of when released stopping they still try to function.

This is rare but I have seen in a few hundred sets this kind of problem--be grateful it is not the vol up doing it.

How to prove and or solve this issue?

Someone needs to gain access to the pc board with the buttons/switches and disable the (channel up or down) switch causing this problem--most switches will have just two pins to unsolder to do that---may be a few more pins for mounting but only two for the switch.

Many sets if the keyboard is up front also have the remote receiver there so you if that is the case cannot just disconnect the board.

With the correct switch (push button) eliminated out of circuit the set will work normally with the remote.

Repair: either locate and replace the entire tiny board or just leave the offensive button disconnected and use just the remote for that function.

Please, if you have questions make a comment here (make a comment button) and I will try to help.

Monte Carlo ceiling fan and light not working

Even a brief power outage can cause amnesia in the receiver. You can try disconnecting power at the source and spending a few minutes removing the battery from the wall-mounted remote and pressing all buttons to eliminate the 'stuck button' problem. Reinstall the remote battery and reconnect main power to the unit. Test operation.
Lastly, there always is the possibility that some gremlin changed your original control setup.

WS-55511 55in volume turns up by itself & can't switch devices

The remote is not the problem. The switch for volume up on the control panel has become leaky. Very common problem for this generation Mitsubishi. If you don't mind not having the control panel working you can disconnect it and the set will work just fine with the remote. To disconnect the control panel pull the speaker grill, it just snaps off, and remove the front access panel. Once that is done you'll see a cable going to the switches just disconnect it.

RCA P52754AT rear projection tv won't turn on

Good way to test for bad buttons is go inside the back and there is a black multi-wire cable that is connected "front and center" of the center lens on top of the chassis....easy to get to from the back.

Disconnect it....

I've had touchy switches on this unit that cause the problems you're seeing....and who uses the switches? Your remote will still function, and with the buttons disconnected, the microprocessor won't get stuck servicing a false command....which by the way makes it IGNORE the remote when they go goofy on you..... Disconnect the front control board and see if that stops the scrolling. If it does, check all of the small tact switches or the remote sensor. If that does not help, you might have a shorted microprocessor IC.
