Player freeze on "Build library.."

Hello, I believe I have a corrupted file on my Insignia MP3 player. Whenever I turn on, plug in, etc. the player, it freezes on file 168 while building the library. Because of this, it never gets to the MSC mode so that I can delete the file. Does anyone know of a way to stop this initialization procedure so that I can access drive and remove the corrupted file? Thanks.

Same problem with file 332. But the solution is not possible. If I could get to the menu to initialize the memory I could fix it. But I can't.

Shouldn't have Formatted shouldn't I?

Hello

Try resetting the device by pushing a pin into the small hole for about 3 - 6 seconds. You can also try to switch on the mp3 player and format it on the mp3 player itself if you have this function. One of these to solutions should work either way.

I have the Insignia sport mp3. It freezes when I try to play a song. It seems stuck on "pause." When I try to get it to play it just freezes and beeps. I have turned it off and back on. I can get to...

If your subscribtion to rapsody (or best buy, whatever they call it) digital music store ran out it will do that to any song you got from the store until you renew your subscription. Try putting a song on there that you own (you didn't download from rapsody) and it should play. I wouldn't bother renewing the subscription though, the store has a poor library (I couldnt' even find don't worry, be happy). Just download your songs from limewire

I've had 2 crashed iriver X20

Hi. I just had solved my Build Library problem. Use my solution on your own risk.
The solution is the following:
1. open up a player (find 8 screws, not 6, 2 of them are on the left side of the player under the round stickers)
2. jently take off a circut board. (you need to access its bottom)
3. Find a memory chip. It is labeled like "samsung k9hbg08u1m"
4. find chip's key meaning start of pin numbering (small circle on the corner). There are 48pins. 24 on the left side (1-24) and 20 on the right (48-25) see chip's manual http://catalog.gaw.ru/index.php?page=document&id=11348 page 4

5. On the right side find pins 32-29 (find them as the second 4 pins from the chip's circle key opposite corner)
6. Connect them together with some metalic wire (don't touch two middle pins on the right side of chip, it is chip's power supply).
7. Holding those pins together connect USB cable to player's socket.
8. After a while player will show error on its screen, get metallic wire out of pins, and then the player will be available as flash storage on the PC.
9. Format flash storage with quick format.
10. Disconnect and assemble the player back.
11. Connect to PC and upload new music.

Insignia 4MB MP3/video player

File allocation table on your player is corrupt. try to use the following method to transfer files from your player to your c drive... else... all is gone...

You can use Windows Explorer to transfer files to and from your insignia sport player. First, in the settings on your player, go to Settings, USB Mode, Connection Type and select File & Folder. Then, plug your player in to your USB cable. Windows XP should automatically find your player and make a new drive letter in Windows Explorer. Simply drag and drop your files to/from your c drive to the new drive for your player. You'll notice that when you use Windows explorer to delete the files on your new drive for your player that it doesnt remove them from your Music Library on your player. You'll need to use your player (settings, system, erase internal) to erase internal (and external), but after that when you add new files, they will be added to the player when it does the profiling after you disconnect the USB cable.
