I was inserting a tape to copy to DVD, and the tape did not fully insert. An error message "F06" appears on the display, and it will not let me do anything, including ejecting the tape. There is nothing in the manual referring to this problem. I don't know if there is a pin insertion hole anywhere to free the tape. Can you help?
The VHS tape is stuck. I just get scrolling OOOOOOO on the display. None of the buttons cause any response. The VHS tape is stuck. I just get scrolling OOOOOOO on the display. None of the buttons cause any response.

My tape got stuck too, i opened the bottom, then located the mechanism that started the eject program. After turning some wheels the eject automatically started.
Try that...

I had this problem when copying an old family vhs tape. I had to unscrew
the top of the magnavox to access the vhs tape. Then, I gently removed
the tape and replaced the cover. After winding the tape back, I put it
in the player and immediately pushed fast forward for about 3 seconds
before hitting play followed by d.dubbing. I was able to make a copy of
the tape and did not damage my original.
I've checked the entire user manual which notes problems like this need to be referred to authorized service personnel.
Myself, I would unplug the entire unit, put it on a kitchen table using a phillips (cross-tip) screwdriver to remove the top metal shell. Remove at least 2 screws each side and 2-5 rear screws securing the top.
Nothing like peering inside to see what is causing the VCR to get stuck and help remove it.
No release pinhole or tape freeing ejector will work if the unit's tape is tightly wound around some internal object or the tape is stuck because something foreign is inside the unit.
Best of success.

There is either some damage to the mechanism or the mode switch is faulty. If you know what to look for taking the top cover off might show what part of the mechanism is damaged.
If it is the mode switch then it will need to be replaced. This can't be done without the service manual as the vcr needs to be set up. And they are never set up in the eject position.
The front panel display and buttons are completely nonfunctional and appear dead. The unit will do nothing more than display the following messages on the TV screen:
Interface error (and or) Interface error! Turn off the power
If a DVD or VHS tape was inserted prior to the error occurring, you won't be able to eject either from that point further. They'll remain stuck inside the unit until you've completed the repair detailed below.

1. Insert a blank DVD disc in the DVD deck and close the disc tray. 2. Insert the VHS video tape you wish to copy into the VCR deck. 3. Find the place on the VHS tape from which you want to start dubbing using the PLAY, FF, REW and PAUSE functions. For best results, pause playback at the point from which you want to record. 4. Press the DUBBING button on the Remote Control or DUB on the front panel. The Dubbing menu appears. 5. Use the arrow keys to select the desired Record Mode: EP, LP, SP or XP. 6. Select [Dubbing] then press ENTER or DUBBING to start copying. 7. To stop dubbing at any other time, press STOP (x). Dubbing will stop automatically when the VHS tape ends.
you posted 2 different problems here... to answer this one ". The tape is stuck, won't eject and I'd like to get it out without damaging the VCR unit."...open unit, find motor that moves tape ejector and spin that motor by hand (power off)
the other problem, "the VCR will not insert a tape. It keeps rejecting it."...open unit and fully turn ejection motor until home position is reached...this is a home sensor switch not being activated.
Unplug the VCR, take the cover off, find the motor (probably on the
right side of the mechanism) and turn its shaft with your fingers until
you have run the tape back out. Now plug it back in and try it
again with a scarificial tape. If it continues to fail, replace
all the rubber belts in the mechanism.
Hope ya fix it!
