If the touch screen is not responding then you need to replace it. In market check whether the touch screen can be replaced separately it will be charge you less. Else you need to replace both the touch screen and display together which cost you more.
yeah they should come with screen protectors.. =( I scratched mine to hell before i realized what a screen protector was, and ended up trading it in at gamestop and buying a new one. I know it's not an answer to what you're looking for, but that's what i did.. =(
the cables need to be inserted Fully And squarely/evenly.
Also ensure The Tabs are locked Down correctly.
If none of this Works, you may have a blown On-Board Fuse.
I believe these Are Known As F1 And F2.
This same thing happened to me. I was playing fantastic contraption and my ipod screen just went black and wouldnt turn back on. When I plugged it in to a charger, it made that charging noise, but wouldnt turn on. SOLUTION: try holding in the sleep/wake(power) button, and the home button at the same time for about 15 seconds or until you see the white apple logo. That worked for me, hope you get it fixed.
I have had the same problem. Did you drop it at all? If not, there was a problem tha pertained to some of the iPhones where the top third to two-thirds of the touch screen suddenly stopped working. Perhaps the problem extends to the iPod touch's manufactured during the same time period.
I would take your iPod touch to the nearest Apple store, set up an appointment with a apple "Genious" and have them evaluate the device. It may be eligible for replacement.
An lcd screen cannot be repaired, only replaced and for a cost around what the went for when new. You can try looking on ebay or craigslist for the same model and swap parts. Had it happen to me, it sucks. Also your home owners insurance should cover it. Sorry thats all the help I can be.
