My fridge is frozen solid! The temp gauge says 6 and won't go any higher and everything inside is froxen solid. The freezer is -18. Can you give me a clus as to what might be going wrong? Thanks!
Usually on refrigerators, the highest setting makes it coldest and the lower settings are warmer, relatively. "6" on my dial says "coldest" - Perhaps this is the case for yours? Let's hope it is that simple

To fix up a frosted up vents, I had a control board replaced for $180. Then 6 months later, the bottom freezer frost up AGAIN. rather than dumping more money to fix it, I was about to buy a new fridge, but had a crazy idea: I disconnected the water to the freezer, bought plastic trays for ice cubes for $3 at walmart. Fridge has worked like a charm for 6 months. no signs of frost. Saved $1000's.
Check the fridge sensor. On my Hoover HNMF2805AL80 f/f, first I replaced control module - still freezing. Have just replaced cheap fridge temperature sensor. Part No. 97061619. Trouble is you have to cut into insulation at back of fridge to replace. I just plugged in sensor & placed inside fridge at back at the bottom - so far so good, only lettuce freezing now, everything else v. cold but not frozen. :)
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper)
between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through
it.There is a flap you adjust with the
fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the
fridge temp.
Adjust the fridge compartment temp to a higher setting it should be located at the top of the frige inside. Should be a dial that has numbers on it this dial needs to be turned to higher number to prevent this from happening.\
You can use a hairdryer on the frozen parts.

You may have to open the door to let the dispenser thaw since it's in the door.

-2 although below freezing temperature, is not really enough to keep food really frozen. I am presuming we are talking in Celcuis. You need to set the freezer to a lower setpoint.
